An Open Letter to My Friends at Major League Baseball

Last week I wrote an open letter to Nike. With the MLB uniform fiasco showing no signs of abating, I’ve now written an open letter to Major League Baseball.

You can read the first part of the letter here. In order to read the entire thing, you’ll need to become a paid subscriber to my Substack (which will also get you full access to my Substack archives). Also, if you become a monthly subscriber for $5, your one month will include my annual MLB Season Preview, which will come out toward the end of March.

My thanks, as always, for your consideration.

Actually, that is false. For more than a century, open letters were published in newspapers and magazines that people had to buy.

“Open” does not mean “free.” It means it’s open to the public, instead of being sent privately to the recipient.

Glad to have cleared that up for you!

I must have missed it when they were investigating who was leaking information to you. That’s gold.
At a time when it feels increasingly like us average folks are at odds with untouchable “powers that be” it is amazing that the sports industrial complex has become part of that. The execs in these leagues are so far removed from the average person they actually investigate uni leaks, when in fact I am certain that your coverage of uniforms does nothing but help bring eyes and interest to these leagues.
And in reality, any negative press that you cover is really the responsibility of these leagues shooting themselves in the foot, case in point, the latest hubbub,.

You made me smile, Paul, but I am not sure they are smiling at MLB. Hope they feel ashamed of what they have allowed to happen to the uniforms.

One if the most literate and tactful mic drops I’ve read in, well at least since the last letter to Nike. We’re going to miss you, Paul.
