Ask Phil Anything!

As most of you surely know by now, I’ll be leaving Uni Watch in about three and a half months, and deputy editor Phil Hecken will be taking over the site’s weekday operations. I know he’s going to do a great job and that there is literally nobody else on the planet as well-suited as he is to run Uni Watch after my departure.

We figure you folks may have some questions for Phil about how he’ll be handling things, what changes he might make, what suggestions he might be open to, and so on. So for the next few days, we’re inviting Uni Watch readers to send Phil your questions and suggestions about his upcoming stewardship of the site. Think of it as a town hall meeting where you get to submit queries to the new boss.

A few quick ground rules:

  • Please, no questions or suggestions about the site’s technical operations or functionality (“Can you add an ‘Edit’ button to the comments?”). Phil will already have his hands full dealing with the site’s weekday content, so we’re not going to make any technical/functional changes anytime soon. In other words, you can ask, “Will you still be publishing the Ticker every day?,” but please don’t ask, “Can you change the way the Ticker looks?”
  • Please, no questions or suggestions for me. Just for Phil.
  • We’re really looking for questions about how Phil will be running Uni Watch. But if you want to ask personal questions about him, that’s also okay, although he reserves the right to decline to answer questions that are too personal.
  • Please send your questions and suggestions to Phil by emailing him directly, not by posting comments on this article.

Phil will respond to your emails in an upcoming post, probably toward the end of next week. Thanks in advance for your input!

Paul has previously described himself as a “classicist” (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it).

How does Phil describe his uniform tastes?

As stated in the post: “Please send your questions and suggestions to Phil by emailing him directly, not by posting comments on this article.”

    Paul,
I am just seeing about your impending departure. The January announcement simply got by me. I fully understand your sentiments, and will truly miss you as you step away. From your very first UniWatch column in the Village Voice, I was hooked. Wishing you all the very best in this new chapter. Onward and upward.
    Nick Varrecchio
