Browns Wearing White-Helmeted 1946 Throwbacks on Thursday Night

The NFL’s 2023 retro renaissance rolls on tomorrow night, as the Browns will wear their 1946 throwbacks while hosting the Jets.

The Browns introduced the 1946 throwback in 2021, as part of their 75th-anniversary celebration. It was worn three times that year (including twice on the road, oddly), but with an orange helmet, because the one-shell rule was still in effect. The throwback was shelved in 2022 and revived this year with an era-appropriate white helmet:

This will be the third and final time this year that the Browns have worn the new white-helmeted version, following a 26-22 loss to the Steelers on Sept. 18 and a 19-17 victory over the 49ers on Oct. 15.

Wonder what the Jets will wear. I bet they’ll ruin it with the all green or all black crap. Here’s to hoping though.

No need to wonder — you can simply look at the GUD, which indicates that they’ll be wearing green helmets, green jerseys, and pants TBA.

I guarantee because the Browns will be in all white and it’s a Thursday night game (don’t know why teams feel the need to go mono on Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games?) they will go mono-green.

Typo: The throwback was shelved in 2022 and revived this year with an era-appropriate WHILE helmet:

Can’t believe I’m saying this…but the Cleveland 46ers would look better with a gray facemask.

Dang. I think you’re right. I never woulda thought of it but I’m definitely with you on that.
