Happy Thanksgiving

Good morning, and happy Thanksgiving! Whether you’re waking up in your own home, a family member’s home, someone else’s home, or a home away from home (like a hotel), I hope you have lots to be thankful for.

Speaking of which: I’d like to give thanks to all the people who continue to make this website possible, including Ticker assistants Lloyd Alaban, Anthony Emerson, Alex Hider, and Jamie Rathjen; membership card designer Scott M.X. Turner; weekend contributors Terry Duroncelet, Jr., Wade Heidt, Jimmer Vilk, Rex Henry, Dennis Bolt, and Zach Wooldridge; web developer John Ekdahl; proofreader Jerry Wolper; and, especially, deputy editor Phil Hecken, the world’s hardest-working bench coach.

Big thanks also to Zac Neubauer, who provided the vintage Thanksgiving postcard image that I’ve been featuring on these Thanksgiving posts for more than a decade now, and to football historian Timothy P. Brown for the vintage Thanksgiving image I’m using this year on the home page and social media.

Most of all, thanks to the Uni Watch comm-uni-ty, who’ve continued to make this a special place for all of us. I’m truly thankful for that.

If you’re traveling today, travel safe. If you’re working today, thanks for keeping the world spinning while the rest of us enjoy the holiday. As for me, E and I will be going out to Long Island to spend the day with my mom and my brother. Our family isn’t large, but we still have a lot to be thankful for.

Finally, in case you missed it last Sunday, contributor Kary Klismet put together a great post on Thanksgiving-themed uniforms. Enjoy that, stay well, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow. Peace. — Paul

    Happy Thanksgiving, Uni-verse!

Many thanks to Paul and the team for keeping Uni-Watch the comfort food of the internet.

    Gobble Gobble!

    Happy Turkey Day everyone.

No “white meat is for suckers” admonition ;)?

The “Bird” (“A Christmas Story” reference) is in the smoker, got oysters for the grill and fryer…one day Transporters will be real and we’ll be able to share our bounty with each other…hope someone out there is making some Spiedies…
Hope you all have a friends, family and football-filled day

Seeing as tomorrow is “Black Friday”, it got me to thinking. Did the NFL/Prime Video choose the Jets as a participant because they have a black option in their wardrobe? Or did the Jets, after realizing they’d be playing tomorrow, decide to break out the black pants? Or maybe it’s somewhere in between. An interesting conundrum to be sure! If there is a game next year (let’s see how this year’s ratings shake out) perhaps the Raiders or Ravens will be on the sked.

The Jets lobbied to get this game so that they could wear their black alternates (and have also lobbied to play on Black Friday as an annual thing, although it’s not yet clear if that will happen).

    So…

if the second part is true (they get “Black Friday” as an annual thing)…

does that mean they’ll keep wearing the mono-black unis for the foreseeable future (on the Friday after Turkey Day)?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful for this conm-uni-ty and the enjoyment it brings me throughout the year. Thanks, Paul, Phil, and all the Uni Watch staff for all you do!
