Last weekend, I ran (what is now the first) Bad Weather Games quiz, where I asked readers “to identify the teams, date, location and final score (and if you want to throw in any interesting tid-bits on how you solved it, that’s always fun too).” There was a great reception, and several folks suggested a second quiz (and some even offered suggestions for bad weather games I had not included in the first quiz).
Your wish has been granted!
Below, then, are 15 more “bad weather” games for you to identify — some will be easy, others perhaps not so much. I’ll update this post to provide answers for all the games later this afternoon.
Ready? Let’s go!

Quiz Answers:
I almost never try to play the guessing games, but I absolutely love the old photos and looking through them! It’s filling the empty space in my uniwatching that “There’s No Service like Wire Service” used to fill.
Several are too easy for me given that my Pats are involved. So I will take Number 2-1948 NFL Championship Chicago Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles. That’s all time great Steve Van Buren scoring the only touchdown in a 7-0 Eagles win.
Off the top of my head because I want to eat breakfast then go kicking…
#2 1948 NFL championship game, Eagles/Cardinals
#3 1988 playoffs, Eagles/Bears
#4 2001 playoffs, Raiders/Patriots
#6 2010 Titans/Patriots
#8 1977 playoffs, Vikings/Rams
#11 1980 Dolphins/Patriots
#12 1981 AFC championship, Chargers/Bengals
#13 1962 Browns/49ers
Steelers and Dolphins were in a LOT of fun weather games.
Love all of these photos!
Off a bit on 6 and 11…
#15 is Browns-Giants American Conference playoff game played in Cleveland Stadium on Dec. 17, 1950.
It was the Browns first year in the NFL after playing in the All-America Football Conference.
Cleveland won 8-3 (two Lou Groza FG’s and a safety) on an icy field that caused both teams to wear basketball shoes.
Photo shows Browns Hall-of-Famer Marion Motley (#76) carrying the ball.
I believe # 11 might actually be the December 1982 Snow Plow Game between Miami & New England in Foxboro, MA. A guy on work release from prison that day operated the plow to clear a spot for a successful Patriots field goal, the only score in the 3-0 game. Dolphins coach Don Shula was supposedly furious about that being allowed to the end of his life & a rule change against that sort of thing was enacted afterwards.
So many great bad weather games and cool photos!
#s 1 and 7 – the weather was bad enough, but those green and red pants make the conditions even worse!
#10 – 9ers/‘skins 10/20/19… could have been a uni-beauty but for those Washington helmets. Ah, well-that’s history!
Nice work there, Phil!
Aqua and red, and they’re spectacular.
I only know #5 succinctly because I was watching the game in Tennessee that day while my Jeep was being stolen back in Michigan!
