Vest jerseys don’t sell well, which would seem to doom the project before it starts. A pity, because the Pirates, Reds and Athletics look good wearing them. Also, the Blue Jays’ “vests” were full jerseys with sleeves of contrasting color.
On my list of uniform styles I’d like to see, I’d rank contrast-color raglan sleeves ahead of vests. But I would love to see properly tailored vests come back, especially for teams that play outdoors in hot, muggy climates. Atlanta would top my list.

I would love to see “real” vests, like the A’s and Pirates, for example, wore in the 1960s come back. Many if not most of the 1990s versions (looking at you, Mariners) appeared to be regular jerseys with the sleeves cut off. Close, but not quite right in my view.
Why can’t they just sell faux-vest jerseys?
The Florida Marlins looked best in vests:

What we called “vests” in the ’90s were just sleeveless jerseys. Wearing a true vest, the player’s shoulders are completely exposed, and the armholes are 2x as big. I like the contrasting raglan sleeves, a look that was forsaken by the Angels and Blue Jays who had set-in sleeves at the time. One of my favorite uniforms was the Padres’ 1976 road set which introduced the pullover brown jersey with gold sleeves.
Michigan wears maize. Not yellow. (Not a Michigan alum by the way)
Michigan should never *not* wear maize pants.
This!
Agreed!
I only need to choose four games this weekend for my Top Five, because unless Nebraska does something dumb I’m writing this game in permanent marker on my list.
These auto-play videos are getting to be quite intrusive. As I’m typing this comment there’s a large banner taking up the top half of my browser window that I can’t exit out of. It’s remarkably off-puting.

Re boudoir … I suppose Rob Ullman was onto something back in the day.
Yes…yes he was.
I had the same thought about Mr. Ullman when I read that article! Except I prefer the model to be wearing a hockey sweater.
“Aston Villa players are complaining that their shirts weigh them down”
Sounds like they’re in need of Nike’s moisture-wicking technology!!
Bringing back the vest, for a franchise with a history of wearing them, is one good way the Las Vegas A’s could make a uniform statement in their new location. (Another–and I’ll never stop banging the drum for this–would be removing that stupid apostrophe-S from their cap.)
