The LV Aviators are the A’s Tiple A team, not the Astros.
And soon…the home of the A’s.
I hope it’s the Rays— and not the A’s— who relocate to Las Vegas. It would facilitate a rebrand as (wait for it) The Las Vegas Quicksilver!
Irony has a sense of humor…
Reminds me of the SuperSonics moving to OKC after being bought by the owner of the Sonic fast food biz.
-C.
I remember when they were the Dodgers AAA team and were the 51s. Much better name than the Aviators.
It’s already hard enough being a lifelong A’s fan but to mistake this great AAA team as an Asterisk’s team is quite sad. We got screwed out of our City Connect jersey this year too. Hoping they actually get a Oakland city connect jersey.
The Muskallards says it’s a full rebrand but also announced the day before April fool’s… I dig it and there’s merch up in the site while all their old merch is gone. Considering me confused.
CanCuks!
The Marlins just want people to see the original version of their logo.
Jeffrey Lurie confirmed that the Eagles will use a kelly green alternate next season, but I don’t find any mention yet, not even on the tickers. I’m a little bit disappointed, not gonna lie. Are you waiting for the uni reveal?
By the way: what do you think about the proposal to have three helmet options?
3 helmets is 1 too many. Unless we are talking about the Broncos in brown, orange and a permanent move back to royal blue.
The Birds back in Kelly green once in a while will appeal to many, but I prefer the midnight standards.
I think it’s time to update the numbers font in the midnight green unis.
Regarding Andrei Kuzmenko and his countrymen’s refusal to wear Pride sweaters this season, I’d like to see the clause in their contracts that excuses them from league/team promotions; since they obviously have no trouble cashing huge checks from an organization that promotes North American values over Eastern European ones.
Is FAU the first NOB-under number team to be in the Final Four and perhaps a National Title game?
Love the Showboat unis, just the logo is too 90’s…
Watching Final 4, very weird SD State uses “mascot” named after a native tribe of the Americas that was wiped out in a genocide (appreciate the “tribute” argument but that went out of style decades ago)…
Poor Seattle fans, in some other Uni-verse, KD, Russ and Da Beard done won the Sonics RINGS and RINGS…
There was nothing wrong with the 1980s Showboat uniforms.
The aztecs weren’t wiped out. Their culture has transformed and is resisting here in Mexico after all these years. I’m mexican and have no problem with a University honoring the mexican legacy of Southern California. :)
Aztecs were not Mexican…And NO Mexicans are descended from Aztecs…they were all killed and their culture wiped out like pavement over dirt…
From History Channel’s website:
“Cuauhtemoc, Montezuma’s young nephew, took over as emperor, and the Aztecs drove the Spaniards from the city. With the help of the Aztecs’ native rivals, Cortes mounted an offensive against Tenochtitlan, finally defeating Cuauhtemoc’s resistance on August 13, 1521. In all, some 240,000 people were believed to have died in the city’s conquest, which effectively ended the Aztec civilization. After his victory, Cortes razed Tenochtitla and built Mexico City on its ruins; it quickly became the premier European center in the New World.”
Mexico was literally built on the ruins of the Aztec nation…its not a tribute and IF there were any Aztec natives left, they would wonder why their entire civilization was reduced to a “mascot”
I appreciate the “tribute” angle but that has never worked with native American tribes that actually still exist and proudly carry their respective cultures onward….
I understand if you don’t see it that way, we’ll have to agree to disagree….
