About the Catch of the Day

The Catch of the Day is a blind link that began appearing on the site on Nov. 1, 2011. When you click on it, you’ll be taken to something that I think is really, really good — sometimes sports- or uni-related, often not. It could be anything, really. The only guarantee is that it’ll be something I unequivocally endorse.

The term “Catch of the Day” is something of a misnomer, since the link isn’t necessarily updated on a daily schedule — or, frankly, on any schedule at all. I update it when I feel inspired to do so. Figure two or three times a week. Or more. Or less. I don’t announce when I update it, so the only way to know for sure is to click on the link. The one thing I’ll promise is that I will never update the link more than once in a given calendar day. So if you click on it every day, you’re guaranteed not to miss out on anything. Once an old Catch is replaced by a new Catch, that’s it — there’s no archive or listing of previous Catches. You snooze, you lose.

The Catch of the Day is basically a straight rip-off of the Awesome Button, a blind link that appears on the very excellent blog Hyperbole and a Half. My thanks to that site’s super-talented impresario, Allie Brosh, for the inspiration.
