Calgary Wild FC Unveil New Secondary Kit

The Calgary Wild FC are a professional women’s soccer club based in Calgary, Alberta. Wild FC compete in the Northern Super League, a league at the top of Canadian soccer. The Northern Super League includes six teams: Halifax Tides FC, Montreal Roses FC, AFC Toronto, Calgary Wild FC, Ottawa Rapid FC and Vancouver Rise FC. The league began playing its first matches this month.

The Wild had already unveiled their primary kit, a solid purple-ish/blue uniform with red chevrons on the shoulders (and shorts), with a maker’s mark and logo on the front. The jersey is also sublimated, bearing various wordmarks and logos. The Wild call the purple-blue color “neon violet.”

On Friday, the club both introduced and debuted their new secondary kit, which is “rose pink” and “electric blue,” and which creates an image of the Rockies, along with lakes and rivers in and around Calgary.

The back of the jersey contains player NOB and number, both rendered in purplish-blue.

Like the primary kits, these also have the maker’s mark and club logo atop the Calgary-inspired graphic. The shorts are also light blue, with a logo on the right leg, and player number on the left.

The Wild describe the kit this way: “A fearless fusion of wild rose pink and electric blue, it pulls straight from Alberta’s landscape — bold skies, iconic lakes, and the raw energy of the wild. Look closer and the mountains are stitched right in — with textures that echo snow and stone, and lines that mirror the city skyline. It’s wilderness colliding with concrete — a bold clash of nature and urban grit.”

Here are a couple looks at the kits in action:

It’s quite an attractive kit, and I love the light blue and light pink for the color scheme. Normally I dislike any kind of sublimation on a jersey, but this one actually looks pretty good. The mountain/sky/lake design wasn’t really visible in long shots, but the pairing of the light blue and light pink nonetheless provided good visuals.

I’m not a big fan of the club’s primary kit (in mostly solid “electric violet”) but the secondary kit is much more attractive. Not only is the mountain/lake graphic — the main feature of the jersey — well done, the combination of light blue and light pink works well.

The Wild have now played two road games, and will play one more this weekend, before returning to Calgary and playing their home opener on Sunday, May 11th.

You’re doing the “jazz” design a disservice by comparing it to the uniforms. All I see is an ugly tie-dyed t-shirt.

I’m not sure if that’s meant to be a specific mountain but it sure looks like Mt. Assiniboine

I’ll be at the opener with my kids. An old friend is part of the startup team for the new league and we’re really looking forward to it!

Yeah, it’s fun to have this new league. Something new on the sports landscape for us fans. Haven’t been to a Vancouver Rise game yet but soon. Haven’t been at Swangard Stadium for an event in a long time but it’s overdue. Looking forward to it.
