With three new-for-2025 uniforms already released for the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals and , and leaks of the Red Sox, Marlins and White Sox, plus the Colorado Rockies, we basically know what every new 2025 City Connect jersey will look like.
So, of the eight teams to get new CC’s in 2025, seven of them are known or have been leaked. But the one team who has been able to keep their new CC under wraps, at least so far, has been the Arizona Diamondbacks. Back in March, we got a potential leak, but really, nothing, including the return of purple (and teal), is known about the future CC for the D-bax.
In an appearance on Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta, Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall dropped a few nuggets on the new CCs, at least for the timing of their official release.

(You can also hear Hall’s comments by clicking here, and fast forwarding to around the 7:26 mark.)
“I think we’ve targeted the first week of May (for the reveal),” said Hall. “Nike really controls that message but we’re excited to roll these out. There’s been a lot of rumors out there, a lot of speculation, a lot of designs of what people think and assume it is. There are some that have been pretty close. I think our fans are going to be excited about these. I can’t say much … but it’s going to come soon. Easily within in the next like three weeks.”
The Diamondbacks are scheduled to debut their new City Connect uniforms on May 9th, so the first week of May makes sense for the official unveiling. Most CC’s are revealed about a week prior to their being worn (the Giants waited until the day they’d debut their CCs to unveil them).
And while Hall couldn’t (or wouldn’t) give any additional hints as to what the uniforms will look like, he did add, “It’ll be a drastic change. Put it this way, you don’t want to spill any parmesan or marinara sauce on it while you’re eating at the ballpark.”
That doesn’t particularly help in trying to figure out the new uniform, but “drastic change” to the owner might not mean to him what it means to others.
In my earlier article about the D-backs new CC’s being purple, @SunsUniTracker had created this mockup:
Dbacks City Connect Prediction 1
This is based on what I've been hearing for a while + some new info. Not saying this is definitely it, but could be close.
Will post revisions as I learn more. pic.twitter.com/LNOHI7fJaL

And this subsequent “leak” of a pair of custom cleats seemed to confirm @SunsUniTracker’s mockup:

Could this jersey be one that Hall remarked is one of those designs “that have been pretty close”? Would that constitute the “drastic change” of which Hall spoke? Would gradient purple-to-black jersey with the same “Serpientes” wordmark as their original sand-colored CC constitute a drastic change?
What do you think?
What’s that hat pic??
“Nike really controls the messaging”
Don’t love that, if I’m honest. Not surprising though.
Ugh, I’m already annoyed.
Leaks of leaks of leaks of leaks….very leaky.
The Serpientes city connect was probably my favorite in terms of logos/brand identity. The sand color was nice, but didn’t love the hat color matching. If they really are keeping the logos, but going with the retro Diamondbacks color scheme, I’m not sure anyone will be able to top that.
Also, Serpientes is a superior name to Diamondbacks and I kind of wish they would commit to it for a full re-brand.
What is the hat????
Just something I created. Nothing to see here…
Got it, Thanks!
I love that hat you created.
Pretty sure hatclub sells one very similar. They mostly sell limited editions, so it might be no more, but they riff on diamondbacks hats a lot, and I could swear they did some CC logos with retro colorways and I believe there was a pinstripe.
Oh this feels like the team that drew the gradient card this round from Nike. Because gradient jerseys work so well…
BasI d in the comments about not spilling Parmesan or marinara on it, I’d guess it’s not purple but white. And I’m also afraid that it might have some kind of squiggly snake pattern that might be confused for pasta noodles. Just sayin’ you heard it here first.
My thought was just about the opposite as far as colors. “You don’t want to spill any parmesan or marinara sauce on it” because there’s no tan or red in the new uniform, so those things won’t blend in.
I do like your thoughts on the snakes/spaghetti possibility though!
It made me think white too. We’ll see!
I read this to suggest that the jersey will be light-colored (not deep purple or purple-to-black).
He also said that it would be a “drastic change”, which would seem to suggest that it’s not sand-colored, but maybe a sand-to-something gradient, or a sand jersey with purple and teal trim could be considered drastic. He said he’s seen some concepts that are close, but we have no idea what he’s seen or what he meant by that.
Gurriel’s cleats appear to be purple, teal, white, and shiny-purple, so purple is at least an accent color.
Drawing a line through all of these points could indicate a reverse of Gurriel’s shoe: a teal jersey with purple accents and white or teal pants (hopefully white). Maybe a purple hat that matches the shoe and the concept jersey.
Do you think that iridescent strip in the shoes could be a hint? Maybe part of the hat logo somewhere? Or maybe it’s the belt. That would definitely contrast with the purple jersey
‘Zona Sneks
Really confused as to why he thinks we would be spilling parmesan or marinara on a baseball jersey in Phoenix.
Really confused.
Maybe he’s referencing the Orioles’ fans who brought a gallon Ziploc bag of spaghetti to a game?
Other than the cap matching the uniform, the recent Dback CC was one of the better ones. Before speculating, lets see what what comes out in May. The CCs released so far have been a huge improvement compared to years past, so I will remain hopeful it will look like a Major League uniform rather than a clown suit or the silly minor leagues have by having so many identities.
For the love of all that is good in this world, would Nike please STOP with the gradients?
You don’t even need the end of that sentence.
For the love of all that is good in this world, would Nike please STOP.
First off, every CC costume released this season has been a drastic change. Secondly, if the D-backs uni is just a purple gradient version of last year’s then it’s not too drastic. This man knows not of what he speaks.
Well, that comment about the parmesan and marinara confirms what I’ve been thinking: it’s going to be red and white checkered, like a classic Italian restaurant tablecloth. It’ll probably look quite a bit like a Croatia home kit from the World cup. The Old Spanish Serpientes will be replaced by the Italian word mark “Serpentes” and the new mascot will be a anthropomorphic meatball.
