Earlier this morning, we got our first look at the apparent City Connect jersey leaks for the Red Sox, Marlins and White Sox, and now it appears the Colorado Rockies jersey has been leaked as well.
Here are some views of the leaked Rockies CC:

Before we try to figure out what sort of storytelling is present here, this jersey — unlike every other City Connect either unveiled or leaked so far — is not a button-front, but instead is a pullover with a wishbone collar (similar to the style worn by the Angels and Mets, and formerly the Nationals).
As far as the jersey, this one will be two-tone, with light blue on top, and light purple below. “ROCKIES” is written in purple block lettering that itself is slightly truncated on the bottom, and contains the Rockies mountain-baseball logo, rendered in alternate colors.
The sleeves feature the sky blue-light purple demarcation as on the front of the jersey, with sleeves having what looks like either a pink or salmon colored stripe at the sleeve ends. The collar has a triple stripe pattern of purple, orange/gold, and pink/salmon. The orange/gold is also present on the baseball in the Rockies chest logo. On the sleeve is a circular patch with “CO” atop the mountain logo.
These, like the other leaks, don’t show any uniform numbers (front or back) or NOB, so that important bit of visuals is left to our imagination.
As far as the colors — the State is known as “Colorful Colorado” on its welcome signs, and this color scheme certainly is colorful.
Is it going to reflect the glorious colors of the famous Coors Field sunsets?

Any Coloradans out there (or anyone) have any other theories on the color or design elements?
The Rockies City Connect will make its on field debut on April 18th, which is just over two weeks away.
Thoughts?
[Special thanks again go to Susan Freeman for the tip]
Seems pretty clear that it’s sunset-themed.
Wow. This takes a little time to take in. Hard to evaluate without the cap and the pants. I expect one of those (or maybe both) to be light blue as well. Creative it is, but do I like it? I will have to wait and see.
I guess I do like it. But it needs a number on the front.
I’m thinking it’s going to be a purple hat with light blue front panels and a pink squatcho.
Sounds OK to me.
That play-doh roll CC looks like The Phoenix Suns 90’s jerseys and the Utah Jazz 00’s jerseys accidentally collided and fell into the Joker’s vat
Even though I know this is an article about baseball jerseys, my first thought was, why are they showing us a basketball jersey?
Perfect shirt for someone who doesn’t care to wear something that might be (but probably not a ) baseball jersey.
Looks like something Patagonia would sell.

Maybe they’re going to be the Rockies’ jersey advertiser?
It would fit seamlessly.
On first blush, I like it. Pullovers continue to make a comeback!!
Wow.
It’s definitely interesting looking. I like the design, but at first glance these colors do nothing for me. I’ll be interested in seeing how it looks on the field.
The mountain logo on the front in purple/pink with the yellow baseball is absolutely the best part of this, even if it makes the baseball look a little like a softball
It looks like the printer broke half way through!
I like this one, except the wordmark looks like BOCKIES
Cannot unsee it right now. Go Bockies!
Ok I HATE HATE HATE Nike’s pullover template, and I hate the way they executed this (sublimate everything except the mountains? What?) BUT I frickin’ love this design and color scheme. I want this to be well executed so badly but it just isn’t. The collar, the sublimation, the overall quality is just bad. It’s ruining a rare incredible effort on the part of Nike’s design team. Too bad. I look forward to the hat. I hope the pants are a color. I am afraid to see the socks.
This just doesn’t feel like a Colorado jersey, it feels way more like it belongs to a So Cal team or maybe a southwestern one (similar to the Mets one feeling like a Yankees reject). At least it has one of the team colors in purple and the concept is obvious. I think if you swapped the blue for gray or orange this might make more sense. It looks more like a beach sunset not a mountain one.
Also pullovers stink sorry.
There has not been one single “city-connect” uniform that looks any good. These are nothing more than MLB cash grabs. Sad and embarrassing.
Well, it’s not green.
I like the color scheme but I liked the Rockies’ green license plate inspired city connect way more than these.
It’s….fine. I think it’s less unique to the state of Colorado than the previous set (let alone the city of Denver) which of course undermines Nike’s mission statement for the CC series. Having said that, the bright colors might be the only thing that makes the Rockies even somewhat interesting this year. So….whatever.
Hate this.
I was born, raised, and still live in Denver. Until you mentioned the sunset thing, it hadn’t crossed my mind. I think it was the light blue that was throwing me. I was thinking more of the bright blue sky over the mountains. It’s a common sight for me when driving west during the day.
I like the pullover style jersey and the colors are nice though the light blue seems to not fit in there somehow. I almost wish they would’ve used a grayish, charcoal tone. I think that would’ve worked better with the sunset theme. Unless, it’s meant to evoke a sunrise theme. That would explain the light blue.

I honestly don’t know if the “sunset” will be the story(telling) — but it’s what *I* saw with this. We’ll need to see how the Rox spin it.
I have a sort of morbid curiosity to hear what the team/Nike will say these uniforms represent.
The leaked images have made it to local sports websites and, just initial glaces, seems some like it, some don’t. They do seem more popular than the previous “license plate” uniforms. Of course, the main complaint is the Rockies being a terrible team that should get new owners instead of new uniforms.
A previous Ticker I did had some officially licensed Nike shoes, one pair matched the City Connect Nationals (which was revealed back then), and one pair matched what we see here of the Rockies. One more vote for “I bet this is legit.”
And they have the wordmark in the sole.

Personally, I think pullover jerseys needed to stay in the 70s/80s…they ALL look very, very amateurish to me, especially in modern cuts. The Mets new blue pullover would look much better, for example, if it were a regular button-front jersey.
That said, the jersey itself looks pretty garish to me. I want to see the full uniform before I make up my mind, but it’s certainly…a lot.
Not a fan. I don’t know whether it’s the colors or that it’s a pullover, but it has a very recreation/beer league feel to me.
I’m pretty sure the storytelling is going to be about the sun setting over the Rockies.
This made my mind immediately go to Craft Beer Can design.
Love a pullover. Just wish the collar was a standard vneck. Like these a lot except for the logo going right through the name. Just seems jumbled up and messy.
Another Lame effort brought to you by Nike.
Denver resident and Rockies fan* here. I concur with the consensus that the color scheme is meant to evoke the sunsets over the Rocky Mountains as seen from Coors Field.
My initial reaction: they colors on this jersey don’t come close to doing justice to the actual colors in the sky during one of those magnificent sunsets, so why even try? The Rockies had a pretty good thing going with their green “license plate” alternates. This new jersey feels like a downgrade. Like Ingmar, though, I’ll reserve judgement until I see the full uniforms.
*To the extent anyone can be a fan of this foundering franchise with its inept leadership
Yikes, was this a leftover from Turn Ahead The Clock?
Is any of this made of patches/embroidery/stitches? Or is it just a glorified t-shirt?
Love the pullover design. So nice to have something besides boring button downs. Old cranky guys don’t like it because it shows off stuff in the wrong places, but young fit athletes can pull it off without it looking like “beer league softball” tops.
I love the pullover for certain teams. Just like the powder blues, many teams did it in the past when it was a big trend, but it’s a vibe that has to be there with the team to bring it back now. The Rox never had the pullover before, but it’s a Colorado, chill, retro vibe that I think works for them. That said, I truly wish Nike would have gone with a standard v neck. This wishbone collar looks as bad now as it did on the nba sleeve uniforms, partly because it’s simply over-designed, and partly because the rest of a baseball uni still looks pretty traditional/boring, so the “space age technology” collar doesn’t match up.
I agree as long as the pullovers make sense they can work. I they worked pretty well in the 70s and 80s. I like the Mets new blue pullover a lot.
As long as it’s not forced it can work. The problem back in the 70s and 80s is that we had uniforms that should’ve remained button ups and turned into pullover. To me the jersey needs to be designed as a pullover originally for it to work.
Yeah, the pullover design really works with this one. I think it had to be a pullover too. The Mariners one should’ve been a pullover. This looks like something people can rock on the street very easily. I think it becomes a hot seller for Rockies fans even after it’s not in use on the field anymore.
I like it as it looks much better than the 1st Rockies green CC. It’s very unique, it has some of that Astros 70s and 80s uniform swag mixed in with the Nuggets 80, 90s Suns, and Utah Jazz sunset city uniforms from the 2010s a few years ago.
I think the pullover makes it work even more. I actually think this could become a fan favorite and you could see fans rocking this for style on the street. It’s what I love about the Mets new blue pullover jersey. The softball style niforms from the 70s and 80s were great to me.
This gives a throwback feel to it. My guess is the pants will be purple.
Apparently no other baseball teams have sunsets.
go Bockies
The division between purple and blue on the front of the jersey seems like a homage to the time the Denver Bears had a line at the armpits to help the umps call balls and strikes. link
While this design may be legit, some of the images feel like “mockups” blank jerseys that have photoshopped images on them. Could be Nike mocked these up, but some of the jersey logos feel photoshopped onto the jersey.
