A couple days ago, the reigning World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers new gold-accented World Series Ring Ceremony jerseys were leaked, and should resemble the jersey seen above.
Here’s another view of the purported jersey:

As I noted at the time, the “matching” cap still hadn’t been released or leaked, but that is now no longer the case. I speculated that the Dodgers would possibly have a solid gold “LA” with white outline, if the cap were to follow the same stylistic pattern of the jersey (gold replacing blue and red, and adding gold outlines). But I also held out hope the team would not use the white outlining around the interlockng LA logo:
If they were to follow the pattern they seem to have established for this year, we might expect the cap to have “LA” in solid gold, with a white outline. (I’m not sure how good that will look. The gold outline on the white LA didn’t have enough color separation in 2021, so I’m not sure a gold LA outlined in white would be any better. Perhaps the cap will simply have a gold “LA” — which I think would look best.)
It appears my hope for a simple, gold “LA” will come to fruition. We now have a look at what is expected to be the cap the team will pair with the gold-accented WS ring ceremony jersey:

That image comes from this Tweet.
Not only will the cap not have any outlining around the gold “LA,” it will also have a 2024 World Series Champion patch on the right side, and a gold squatchee on top.
Additionally, a new photo of the WS Ring Ceremony jersey — shown with full Nike tagging — has surfaced, leading to additional confirmation that this is, indeed, what the Dodgers will wear on the field when they receive their 2024 WS champion rings.

If the leaked cap is indeed what will be paired with the new jersey, then I am quite pleased. The gold “Dodgers” and uniform number, outlined in blue and red respectively, works fine on a white jersey, where there is more than enough contrast between the gold and red/blue. The cap, had it followed the jersey style, would have included a white outline around the gold “LA” both reducing contrast and making the interlocking letters look chunky. By simply making the “LA” solid gold, the logo will stand out against the royal blue.
Well done Dodgers! Thank you for staying solid gold.
Your thoughts on the new cap?
[My sincere thanks to reader Jeff Long for pointing me towards the new caps!]
Looks very similar to the Brooklyn Cyclones Championship jersey from a few years back.
would be awesome without that big patch
Longtime, first-time here. Been a uni-watcher since the early 2000s. Life-long Dodgers fan. There’s something to be said for understated class, elegant simplicity, and acting like you’ve been there before. Usually, my Bums do that with aplomb. These, though, are garish and “Austin Powers in Goldmember” ostentatious.
If the Yankees win a title in this new gold-jersey era, does anyone think they’d do something like this? Nope. It’d be a simple Vegas-gold embroidery around the edges of the NY on the jersey. MAYBE on the numbers, too.
It would be so much more becoming if the Dodgers did simple gold trim on the standard-colored ink elements, a shoulder patch, a cap patch, a gold squatchee and a gold underbrim. This is by no means the only option. Instead of this muted gold, they could have gone with real bright, glittery metallic gold like (I hate saying this) the Giants did with their golds a decade ago. Either of those would be better than this.
“a gold squatchee and a gold underbrim”
Oooh… I like this idea. And welcome!
The hat and jersey have different championship patches. I don’t know….
It is a mess.
That’s a fair point. Part of me thinks this is probably a fashion cap. And here I was all ready to cue the Solid Gold dancers.
Jersey and cap just dropped on the Fanatics mlbshop site. Exactly what was leaked. Nowhere near as good as the ’21 gold collection. But whatever, I still spent 500 bucks for a cap and Freeman jersey.
A mess, with randomly slapped gold with or without contrast outlines on the jersey and the hat. Plus two different World Series title logos. A mess.
Looked nearly identical to the 2022 All-Star game jerseys to me until I noticed the letter and number outlines. Wonder if they just dusted off that design template.
