We were aware there would be multiple teams getting new “City Connect” uniforms for 2025, but MLB has just confirmed the number will be EIGHT total new CCs. New to this list are the Chicago White Sox, who had previously not been mentioned as one of the teams to receive a new CC this season.

The other seven were either known or suspected.
The Houston Astros will be the first team to unveil their new CC, although it’s already been leaked.
Aside from the Astros, here are the other seven teams who will debut a second City Connect design in 2025:
- Arizona Diamondbacks (second design), will unveil a new City Connect uniform in 2025.
- Boston Red Sox (second design), will introduce a new City Connect uniform in 2025. Their original yellow City Connect uniform will remain in the regular rotation, replacing the team’s blue road alternate.
- Chicago White Sox (second design), will unveil a new City Connect uniform in 2025.
- Colorado Rockies (second design), announced via social media that they would debut a new City Connect design in 2025.
- Miami Marlins (second design), will unveil a new City Connect uniform in 2025.
- San Francisco Giants (second design), announced that there will be “some changes made to the current version of the City Connect jersey” in 2025.
- Washington Nationals (second design), announced via social media that they would be retiring their “cherry blossom” uniform following the 2024 season and will replace with a new City Connect uniform. They will have some additional uniform changes for 2025 as well.
It’s not altogether surprising that the White Sox would introduce a new CC, as they were one of the original seven teams to get the first batch of CCs back in 2021. They are not currently “full” on their Four Plus One (four jerseys plus one CC) — as they have a home pinstripe, road gray and alternate black jersey. They could conceivably move their current City Connect into their Core Four (much like the Red Sox will be doing with their yellow Boston Marathon CC). I hope they decide to keep it, as it’s one of the Top three CC uniforms out there (and one of the few worth keeping).
We still don’t know any of the official release dates for any of the new CCs (although we do know the Astros will be the first to do so).
Of the eight teams getting new CCs, which are you most excited for (and who has the worst CC of this group that deserves to go)?
Of this group of eight, I actually liked a couple of these: Rockies and Marlins were solid, and the Nationals cherry blossoms were very good (except for the giant “WSH” as a wordmark). The Astros and Giants had — at least in my opinion — awful CCs, so I won’t be sad to see those retired. I liked the Diamondbacks “Serpientes” look, and I was hoping they’d keep that around (and ditch their black alternate), but it doesn’t appear that will be the case.
Most of the remaining CCs could be blown up (except maybe Cleveland), so of course those will be sticking around (some of them haven’t hit their “three year” cycle).
Thoughts?
I sincerely hope that Casino and gambling patches are present with QR codes for a streamlined, real-time interactive experience!
What’s the point of selling ad space if you can’t maximize its revenue and UEX?
*Also, no news on the “Vedder Cup”?
SF and Colorado can do nothing but improve on their CC uniforms. The worst of the first round (though the Dodgers were trying hard…)
I will miss those Miami ones. Best of all IMO.
Obviously, it’s all opinion, but what about the Rockies CC didn’t you like? I thought it was one of the better ones (especially when they mixed/matched white pants with the green).
I hated the fact that the first thing Nike thought about Colorado was “let’s make giant license plates out of these things” and just went with it. Lazy.
Not to defend Nike, but maybe that’s the direction the Rockies wanted to go, told Nike, and that’s what they came up with.
Unlike New Era caps (apparently), teams do have full say over what their CCs will be, and this doesn’t see the field unless the Rockies give the full thumbs up. But it just goes to show you — opinions on the CCs vary widely. I am neither a Colorado native nor even a fan of the team, but I thought they did a nice job with it (I realize there are many residents who probably feel differently, for several reasons, not the least of which is it’s not really a “City” connect as a “State” connect. And if I lived in Colorado, I’d probably agree that using the State’s license plate as the basis for a uniform is probably the last thing one would expect. I’m sure there are many non-NY Mets fans who like “our” CC, but I am not a fan.)
Let’s see what they pull out for round two.
Since Colorado’s license plates are so visually distinctive, i think they actually made a pretty solid uniform concept. That said i’m all for seeing a new idea.
People in Colorado loved them specifically for that reason. I live in NYC and wear a Rockies CC hoodie whenever I’m missing home.
The white numbers with the white background on the jersey backs were a fail. Green mountains could have been higher up to avoid the 1/2 stealth number effect.
“worst of the first round”?
I guess you completely missed the Phillies atrocities.
Phillies didn’t get their CC until last year. They were the fourth round.
I think the context of ‘first round’ in the original comment was the first CC for each team. It was the first round CC uniform for Philadelphia. With LA’s sprinkle unis and these new ones, we’re just getting into the second round.
I am very disappointed the Red Sox will not get rid of the hideous yellow uniforms; the Astros were even worse. Although not a fan of any of the CCs the new Astros CC is at least in team colors. I hope none of the new CCs will have black or navy pants. I have always been a Red Sox and Braves fan but don’t watch either when they wear the CCs.
The Red Sox CC will reportedly be “green” (link)
Whether that means FULL green, or just a green cap and/or jersey remains to be seen.
I remember you writing that ! Hopefully not full green. I prefer current team colors for all sports. I do realize I am not in the demographic the CCs are made for.
4 of the better ones in my opinion in the whole series were Arizona (great logo and unique colors), Miami (cool color combo, had historical significance), Chicago (logo, team colors, cool design for a road uni), and Washington (agreed, wordmark aside)
Giants was pretty bad with both design and legibility, Astros pants made it pretty rough on the eyes, and I wanted to like Colorado but the green didn’t work for me – hopefully new one uses team colors
This is a minority opinion, but I think the Giants CC uniform is great. God forbid a baseball team use colors other than blue or red, but orange has been a criminally underused color throughout MLB history, and I believe Houston’s the only other team that’s ever used it as a primary color on their hat. Additionally, it’s within range of the team’s normal color palette, and its connection to the city is easily understood without any storytelling.
color orange is fantastic, doesn’t make it good design though. legibility and color balance were off to me. i want them to keep using orange for this one but just a more well done design
Heard of the Baltimore Orioles?
Don’t the White Sox have the Sunday Beach Blanket uniforms still? The South Side city connect really was a well done design that was truly connected to that part of the city and fans with zero need for bs corporate story telling. It’s a shame to see it go.
Apparently they quietly dropped them before last season. They wore them up until 2023 (and quite often that season), but they were never worn in 2024.
It wouldn’t surprise me if they dumped them knowing they could move their CC to the Core Four (a la the Red Sawx) and that’s their plan. At least I hope it is.
The Nats cherry blossoms are incredibly popular in the area and I would like to see a revised version of the same concept. I actually think they’d be well served using pink and black/grey full time like Inter Miami (MLS) and separate themselves from the red/blue MLB pack but it will never happen.
My money is their design will debut around July 4th and be an early United States Semiquincentennial homage complete with the 250 logo.
if there’s any team that definitely should stay red/white/blue for their entire existence, it’s the Nationals
I am going to miss the Miami CCs. Those were sweet and should have been kept as an alternate,
Old man ‘get off my lawn!’ alert:
I just can’t get behind (or don’t want to get behind) uniforms that are outside of a team’s color scheme. I like the new Astros one, for example, because it fits their branding. But the thought of the Boston Red Sox having a green jersey and yellow jersey, for a team that is navy and red, just doesn’t work for me. I get why the jerseys exist, and I suspect this new one will be Green Monster inspired and likely cool street wear for some, but I need the Bosox in red and blue.
A lot of fellow dbacks fans are hoping for purple CC’s but im hoping for something in the teal color
Yankees will never have a CC uniform!
The rest of MLB has to deal with these merch-dumps, I think it’s pretty arrogant of the Yankees that they just don’t get one.
Yeah, the Yankees annoying me with their arrogant attitude on uniforms. They do have younger fans who would love to see a CC uniform from them. I hate the whole no NOB tradition too, especially on their road uniforms. Like it’s 2025 now get ris of this bland tradition. I always wanted to see the Yanks wear they navy blue tops in season on the road for some games.
nooooo not the serpientes and southside uniforms too
so many of the good ones are going away
As a Nats fan the cherry blossoms grew on me! There’s room for improvement. They should keep the cherry blossom theme, without a doubt. This time maybe do more pink or like the caps a year or so ago, a baby blue jersey and pants with the pink and flower ascents to really make it POP!
Our little league team got all City Connect unis this spring. We the Diamondbacks were super excited to get the Serpientes uni. However, when we got them we were all bummed, They instead gave us the throwback purple and green. Now we look like Barney the dinosaur.
Marlins announced at their fan fest that city connects debut May 3.

I would hate to see the White Sox drop their current CC entirely – it’s great. Having it become part of the core four would be an ideal solution.
They need to do away with these, all are bad and distasteful. just cause Nike wants to make an extra buck we have to look at those things. It’s just as bad as rob manfred turning players into billboards
Both the White Sox and Marlins should’ve kept theirs, they mightve had the best CCs in the league. Those weren’t hated as bad as others.
I don’t like CCs being counted into the core 4 like the Red Sox getting rid of the navy blues for road games. I don’t mind the green uniform as long as it’s not green pants as well. I agree with somebody else using colors that’s outside of the color scheme, but Miami was the only team that made it work. The Nats cherry blossom one wasn’t too bad either.
As an Astros and Rockies fan: Astros Space City was an epic FAIL; Rockies CC to me was a bold move that worked , but am curious to see what they come up with next!
Bummed that Seattle isn’t on this list. Another season with one of the ugliest uniforms in sports.
Here’s hoping the Nats stick with the cherry blossoms but also use the “DC” logo. It’s been sidelined and underutilized for too long.
Only change to the ChiSox’s CCs, it’s called the “South Side” and not “Southside.” Fixed.
