The Houston Astros will be the first team to receive a new City Connect uniform for 2025, but it now appears the uniform may have been leaked.
I had these three images in today’s Ticker:

The leaks seemed legitimate, but I was holding off on creating an article until we had additional “proof.”
That proof came earlier today when an additional set of photos were posted to TwitterX that support the leak as legitimate.
Here’s a photo of what appear to be a few CC jerseys…

In addition, a Jose Altuve bobblehead looks to be wearing what will be the full uniform, including new CC socks:

We know the Astros retired their “Space City” City Connect following the 2024 season, and also they will be the first team in 2025 expected to receive a new CC. They will join the Colorado Rockies, Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants, Washington Nationals, and Boston Red Sox with new CCs for 2025. It’s also possible the Chicago Cubs (who have definitely retired their “Wrigleyville” CCs) will be getting a new CC.
If this leak is indeed what the Astros will debut in 2025, it will be a white uniform with a white cap and orange socks. The jersey appears to be a bit of a hybrid between their 1990s uniforms with a bit of their Tequila Sunrise colors mixed into the palette.
The wordmark drops the “A” from “Astros” to form the (ever so slightly) shortened ‘Stros. The cap looks like a riff on the team’s original (but never worn) white cap that was to be used with the first Rainbow Guts uniforms.
Based on the purported leak, the new jersey should look something like this:

Obviously we’ll need to wait for the official unveiling to see the full uniform (and hear the storytelling), but from what we’ve seen so far, this will be a much better CC for the ‘Stros. The fairly plain jersey will have a navy blue collar with blue and orange/yellow gradient stripes on the sleeves.
What do you guys think of the leaked jersey/uniform?
UPDATE: We now have our best look at the leak, including a closeup of the sleeve patch and a look at the back of the jersey.

Hopefully they wear these against the Brewers
Well played.
Or in Detroit.
Dammit, I’m too late!! First thing I thought was to dare them to wear those in Milwaukee so they can have a ‘Stroh’s Night’. I’m from NYC, and I remember that beer.
It’s still around! Dad and I shared a case recently.
Several years ago they went all minimalist with the cans and I dropped them like a hot rock.

I guess I wasn’t the only one, because they saw the error of their ways and brought back their 80s design.
link
Now if they could go back to their yellow, red and black labels, that would be even better!

It’s not just sports where I’m taken in by aesthetics…
An A away from looking good.
No A on the front of the shirt, but an A on the hat?
I want some of what Nike designers smoke.
Well you just read it from the top. A-S-T-R-O-S. It’s all there.
Facts
If they just flipped the star placement on the front, it would almost look like ‘Astros’ with the star forming the A.
Stros? Yeah, that’s gonna be a pass for me, dawg.
Seems like a shift from “connecting to the city” to “connecting to the team’s identity”. Lets see how the other CC unis to be released this year looks like.
The “MTM” on the belt loop obviously references the longtime ties between the Astros organization and the Mary Tyler Moore show.
That looks like an “HTX” – Houston, Texas
Good call!
I couldn’t quite figure out the letters, but it definitely appears to read “HTX” (I originally saw “MTM” as well)
I’d like them a lot more if the front number was on the opposite side.
Considering that I found the “Space City” uniforms to be absolutely hideous, anything the Astros did HAD to be an improvement.
Truth? As one earlier commentator said, these uniforms are an A away (as well as putting the numbers on the left abdomen, where uniform numbers BELONG) from being a future primary. I LIKE these!
I can’t tell you how much this bothered me!

Would have made it a lot better if they kept the “A” instead of being cute with it.
Seeing rep of the 90’s era always puts a smile on my face, so I’m down with these. Hopefully that front logo will be a decent size; having the late-90’s road-style wordmark be too small (like the ’99 throwbacks from 2017) just doesn’t look right to me.
I kinda wanna see these be a standard home jersey with some adjustments, the modern unis aren’t bad but they’re too “safe” for the most part to truly capture what made the pre-’94 duds so memorable.
I love the idea of 90s unis in classic team colors like they did here. Too bad they used ‘stros. So close but so far.
Definite improvement, if true.
I’m kind of neutral on these. Definitely better than some of the other C.C.’s that have been introduced over the years. As a Cub fan, I’m definitely glad the Wrigleyville C.C.’s have been retired. I thought those were horrible. But, then I also think the White Sox have one of the best.
so the team name on the jersey DOESNT have an A, but it appears the hat does?
What is this obsession with nicknames on uniforms? Duke City, The Lou, Philly, Stros.
This is my biggest gripe with the city connects. The obsession with nicknames for the city or team name grates on my nerves so badly. It just feels wrong.
Hear, hear!
Couldn’t agree more. What I can’t stand is using “The” This and “The” That. They all seem forced.
A(mon)strosity connect?
I think the opinion of most Astros fans was that the Space City uniforms were a big success. The NASA worm script and the hats in particular are really loved. I think the amount of white space on these will be pretty bland. Hopefully the hat is pretty cool.
Likely an unpopular opinion here, but these are too similar to their normal set. I don’t get the point, especially as a CC uniform. As an evolution of the previous one, it kind of makes sense, but otherwise it just seems unnecessary.
Yeah I think this will be a number of these 2nd city connects as reactions to first ones going too far.
Not enough contrast in the sleeve patch
Glad to see that the Altuve bobblehead is life-sized ;-)
Well, I am relieved. With the disaster the Texans produced based on rapper’s comments I was worried when someone replied “Trill” to the Astros teaser video. I assumed it was Bun B. Back in 2017 they did an Astros Trill OG hat with the Astros prototype A. link
The internet is pretty mixed with a lot of “It’s bland” comments. And I am kind of in the middle. It is an interesting mash-up. Lots of Bun B Trill stuff uses ‘stros and it definitely tracks with the teaser video. It bothers me there is no apostrophe. Some of the mockups show the famous “Be Someone” graffiti in Houston – and of course, we cannot see on the leaked jerseys image since they are folded. The patch on the right is a Union Station logo (silver anniversary of the ballpark).
And now the Astros just dropped a Bun B Trill line of hats – one is a redo of the prototype hat from 2017. link But there is no “‘stros” version. link
and of course ‘stros has an apostrophe catastrophe
I was waiting for this!
Love them
I don’t mind “Stros”. But I think it would resonate better with me if it were “‘Stros”, with a correctly oriented apostrophe to denote the missing “A”
Ugh; the missing “A” is going to wreak havoc on my OCD.
You and me both, Jay…you and me both.
But at least they don’t have “H-Town” or “HOU” or one of the several area codes on the front…
I was actually okay with Space City since I’ve actually seen that used for Houston before, for instance Space City Wrestling. I’m just surprised they didn’t sublimate the star in lieu of the A
Not bad but the lack of the “A” is pretty weak/unnecessary. I guess they could only afford to buy a vowel on the hat and not the jersey.
The Space City jerseys were cool. I’d not only keep them, but adopt that lithography for the regular Astros uniforms. This, however, is not the biz. And not only because of the “Stros” thing, which is astonishingly stupid.
Add the A, move the numbers and you’ve got a solid contender for a new primary set. This looks so much more in line with the Astros brand, historically speaking, than their current primaries.
How does one enable GIF only replies? This one deserves the Grumpy Clint Eastwood from Gran Torino
Aside from the lack of an ‘A’ (which it sounds like we all agree is dumb), THIS is the evolution that the Astros should have done back in ’94 rather than abandoning their original – and now current – color scheme. At that time it would have been a great update to a well-established brand.
I don’t see the city connection in this City Connect uniform.
Just wondering: why this uniform on the 50th anniversary of the UltraStripe/Tequila Sunrise/Rainbow Guts?
I do like the cap, though.
I’m just relieved it’s not H-Town!
Ditching the A is a dumb move that broke this design. That said, in general, this is a decent uni, but with the oxy ad on the sleeve, the whole thing kind of has a gas station pump point of sale display look going on.
These will sell like the proverbial hotcakes to the fans of Houston
Then I guess you could say it’s “Mission Accomplished”
Im usually not that critical of a good chunk of CC’s but this feels like a downgrade for sure. Their previous ones worked pretty well but this just somehow feels very dated to me? Like, adobe flash era comes to mind. The font doesn’t help in particular. Eh
Upon seeing these, I can’t help but think the Astros look and colors have gone stale. Time for a reboot. Maybe they could be the franchise to fully embrace the H-Town blue?
Did they miss a trick not positioning the Nike Swoosh so that it doubles as an apostrophe for ‘Stros?
Maybe go back to the Colt .45s
link
This.
These are beautiful. But I believe they should say Houston on the front, since it is a city connect. Lmost perfect, if you will.
Sudden realization that the “A” is missing because it would have gotten in the way of the Nike Swoosh.
Those are awesome. Don’t even mind that it doesn’t have an “A”. Miles better than most other CCS because it looks like a baseball uniform.
Looks waaaaay better then Space Citys
It’s too bad Marcus Stroman doesn’t play for them.
Honestly these should be used as the template for any Astros uniforms in the future. I always like the 90s design the best for the Astros after rhe rainbow era unis ended. These give me those vibes and the Astros are a futuristic space team, so a futuristic number font fits best for them.
I’ll give these bad boys an A, so far I’m liking these along with the new Mets and Cubs alternate jerseys.
Not only another bad word break, but also looks like the lettering on the actual jersey in the photograph is abnormally high and undersized. These are going to look really weird on the field.
Does this mean they lost their “A” game?
Be respectful and use the name
ASTROS
We have enough problems with education these days. At least, spell the name correctly.
I prefer the Strokes to the Stros anytime, but I would like this uniform slightly better if the A was added. Must be my age but I loathe town nicknames or area codes on uniforms. So next time you do a CC, Houston, make sure it reads H-TownSpaceCityHTX713Stros on the front.
I don’t love the use of the Stros nickname on a uniform in general, and specifically the spacing here makes the Nike swoosh look like a tilde over the S like it’s some kind of Central European language with lots of diacritics.
STROS is too cutesy. Might as well went with ASHOS and wore the matching cap.
Ugh–I know I’m echoing everyone here but dear goodness is this so close and yet so far away because of stupid Nike commitments to creating new brand marks through the use of nicknames of nicknames. Inverse where the star is and put an “A” in it.
No Ashos night? (Re New Era Cap)
