The Arkansas Travelers, originally founded in 1901, are the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners and play their games in North Little Rock, AR. To fans and locals, they are the “Travs.”
As we all know, MiLB teams — particularly at the lower levels — will often adopt alternate identities for a game or three throughout the season, some of which are actually pretty good, while others are almost cringeworthy. I’ll let you decide if the Amarillo CalfFries, Eugene Exploding Whales, Hartford Bouncing Pickles or the Springfield Cashew Chickens fall into the “good or stupid” categories.
But I think we can all agree the Arkansas Travelers, who will become the “Barkansas Dizzys” to honor their ballpark pup, Dizzy, with a week of rebranding of their logo, team name, and uniforms, is 12/10 good!
First of all, meet Dizzy. Aside from just being an awesome dog, Dizzy — an English cream golden retriever — achieved his own 15 seconds of fame during last year’s All-Star Futures Game, delivering the “first fetch” before the game.
That in and of itself is reason enough to love Dizzy. And the Travs certainly do. This summer, from June 10-15, the Arkansas Travelers will take the identity of the Barkansas Dizzys.

Of course, the entire week will be filled with promotions (which is what MiLB teams do). Most important, of course, is that the Travs will welcome puppers in the park every day. The week then has more special promos, culminating with Dizzy’s birthday on June 15! (Here’s a video of Dizzy on his fourth birthday.) Dizzy belongs to Greg Johnston, who is the Travelers Vice President of Stadium Operations and who will be celebrating his 50th year as a member of the organization (and featured in the above videos).

Oh, and yeah — with the team taking on an alternate identity, of course they’ll have special caps and jerseys to wear for the five-day celebration.

The

I love this. Most MiLB promotions (including alter egos) can seem contrived or silly (or worse, forced), but this one is just awesome. The custom cap, with Dizzy’s visage, will undoubtedly be one of the more sought after MiLB caps for 2025. Even the jersey is pretty good (despite being a v-neck pullover).
What do you think?
Maybe it’s jut my dirty mind, but the D-Bone logo dripping is a bit much? It’s kinda up there with the AsHos hat from the other item today!
I had a similar thought, but didn’t want to necessarily point it out. I’m sure it’s innocuous enough, but logos that impale and/or “fit through” other logos can be asking for trouble. Even without the, um, drool, I question the necessity for force a bone (whose shape *may* resemble something besides a bone) through the opening in the “D”.
Again, I spotted that, but didn’t want to draw attention to it. At least I wasn’t alone in thinking it might convey something which was (probably) not intentional.
You and I inhabit a place in the gutter!
Great idea, too much drool
The wagging tail under the jersey script is brilliant.
Love it for the most part. I agree with what others have said about the dripping D bone logo. I also feel between the word mark and 3 other logos, it’s a lot of logo on one uniform. I’d delete one of the sleeve logos. That wagging tail in the word mark is just awesome though.
As a general comment, I’m really liking the minor league coverage here. There’s so much fun stuff out there to see and discuss here.
If I lived closer to Arkansas, I’d actually want to go for the bobblehead.
A couple years ago I took a road trip through New England. Highlights included visiting the Pez Visitor Center in Connecticut, seeing the campus of the college my father went to, going to Fenway for the first time, and seeing the Portland Seadogs. The Seadogs were playing as the Maine Whoopie Pies that night.
One can argue whether whoopie pies were actually invented in Maine, but either way, it was kind of special to see the team as an alternate identity. It’s the kind of silliness that makes MiLB so much fun.
Wow.
It’s sad that when “creative minds” get together in 2025, this is the best they can come up with.
I absolutely love everything about this! In my next life I hope I’m reincarnated as a baseball dog. What a life!
Just love this. So much fun and unpretentious silliness. Great hat and great jersey (I would leave off the regular team logo for this occasion).
