[Editor’s note: Welcome back to the return of “Collector’s Corner” to Uni Watch. Although no longer run by Brinke Guthrie, it has been ably resurrected by Chris Weir. Chris approached me about restarting CC, vowing to uphold the old look and style, but with one new twist: he will make each edition timely with what is going on currently in the sports world (i.e. rivalry games, big events, anniversary of events). Enjoy and please give Chris some feedback about the new (old) feature. — PH]

With football over we can shift our attention to hockey and look at Classic Auctions’ latest auction which closes on February 18th.
• I love the shoulder patches on this New York Rangers Jacket circa 1960 that features Canada’s previous flag.
• I was trying to find the clip from “The Office” in which Dwight gives Michael a Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Jersey but instead I found this Picture of basketball player Mike Scott. [I found a gif — and the sweater Dwight gave Michael was black… — PH]
• I’ve never seen any Hockey Tobacco Cards. They remind me of stained glass shrines at churches.
• This might be a Book I’ll have to check out. I’ve always wanted baseball catchers to turn their masks into works of art like goalies do in hockey.
• The Penguins Horizontal Pittsburgh Jersey makes me want to play a few games of NHLPA ’93.
• I’ve never seen a Player’s Crutches put up for auction before.
• Capitalism and communism meet to create this Figurine.
• I thought college basketball was the only sport that has Net Cutting.
• This auction has a wide array of fantastic Puck Collections.
• Unfortunately you won’t be able to get These before Valentine’s Day.
• This has to be the greatest ticket promotion of all time. The Buffalo Sabres gave season ticket holders for their inaugural season an actual Sabre!
• Not hockey but this Detroit Tigers Sweater is sharp.
• We’ve hit the defunct hockey team jersey trifecta with the North Stars, Nordiques, and Whalers.

If you like the “Hockey Tobacco Card”, don’t miss the next Leo’s World… : )
NHL needs to do a Stadium Series or Winter Classic of the Stars vs Wild and put them both in old Northstars unis.
“Milwaukee” Braves vs Milwaukee “Braves!” Atlanta throwing back to their last home city, with the Brewers cosplaying as the previous team in their home city.
Catchers aren’t allowed to paint their masks due to the MLB licensing agreement with Wilson. Lame.
How is any of this “timely with whats going on in the sports world?”
He just went to an auction site and described what he saw.
Actually, with the 4 Nations Cup ongoing right now, this is very timely
Exactly!
I watched Canada/Sweden last night. USA plays Finland tonight!
I have seen a lot of Sabres obscure memorabilia before. Never seen the commemorative season tix Sabres from 1970 before, that’s awesome.
Between Peter Sidorkiewicz and Zarley Zalapski, the Whalers had such great player names.
Classic Auctions taking a risk with the NFL by selling that Nordiques sweater… With all those Fleur-de-lis they might find their stock impounded!
It’s the Saints, not the NFL, and the evidence points to a real case of logo poaching.
“Horizontal” Pittsburgh? That’s diagonal, not horizontal.
Lacrosse has net cutting.
One thing to know when collecting vintage Nordique jerseys – the numbers, nameplate and the fleur-de-lis are all pressed on – and they tend to start peeling after 20 or 30 years. Still very collectible, but don’t expect pristine.
Not only does the NY Rangers jacket feature Canada’s previous flag, but the U.S. flag only has 15 stars! link
It’s the flag of 1795 – sort of…
i loved nhlpa 93! the blue ice was very pleasing
