Tim Batzinger is a Uni Watch reader who is also a uniform designer, and he too has redesigned (and rebranded) uniforms for all the NFL teams. Unlike the two recent concepters who made slight tweaks and minor fixes to the current NFL uniforms, Tim has gone in a different direction. These concepts are decidedly more radical than more recent tweaks shown on Uni Watch. Like the other recent concepts, I’ll be running these by Division, and will be posted between now and the Super Bowl.
Here are the previous concepts from Tim’s NFL Redesign/Rebrand:

NFL Redesigns/Rebranding Project: AFC South
by Timothy Batzinger
The goal for this project is to reimagine each team with all-new (or updated) branding and uniforms. To keep it simple, I’ve created a new primary logo, secondary logos (in some cases perma-memorials), a word mark, and 3 uniform sets – Home, Road, Alternate.
I’ve tried to stay true to each franchise’s history, whether they’re more “traditional” (think Packers) or more “risky” (think Seahawks). For some teams, there are alternate pant and sock combos, but for the sake of keeping this uniform (pun intended) I’ve kept it to what I feel is the best representation of each team’s brand.
Houston Texans

Branding: The Texans’ primary logo is a full-body bull in the style of their bull head logo, in the shape of a star to represent Texas as the Lone Star state. The secondary logos include an HT monogrammed shield with the T forming a bull’s head, and a stylized Texas flag.

Uniforms: The uniforms are inspired by the Texas state flag. The sleeves feature white over red striping, and the overall uniform keeps that motif- white pants over red socks for the home, half white/half red socks paired with blue pants for the road, and a reversed colorway for the alternate.
Indianapolis Colts

Branding: The primary logo features a horse head framed within the state of Indiana. The secondary logos include an updated horseshoe mark rotated 90 degrees to make the letter C, and a C with an I in the negative space.

Uniforms: The primary uniforms are largely unchanged, with the main updates being the new logo on the helmets, a new font, consistent striping, and an Indiana-shaped number patch on the hip, inspired by their uniforms from the 1980s. The alternate is a throwback to their 1954 uniforms.
Jacksonville Jaguars

Branding: The primary logo is an updated jaguar head design, now head-on, with mirrored Js forming the nose. The secondary logos include a leaping jaguar design inspired by their original unused logo from 1993.

Uniforms: The uniforms combine some of the good elements from their short, but diverse uniform history. I’ve changed the helmets and pants to gold to be more like a jaguar’s fur color.
Tennessee Titans

Branding: The primary logo features a warrior’s head with the face/eye opening forming a T, the Tennessee stars on the forehead, and a flame on top- a connection to their current logo design. The secondary logos include a shield with the Tennessee stars and a Greek pattern around the outside, and a double T.

Uniforms: The uniforms heavily feature the Greek pattern on all elements of the uniform, with the Tennessee shield design at the base of the collar.
Thanks, Tim.
Readers? What say you?
I didn’t notice at first the Texans logo was a star shape, then picked up on it in the smaller version on the helmet, nice design detail there.
Strikes me as more of a dog than a bull, but the star shape is a nice touch.
I was thinking more a mutant pig with horns like a bull.
Spuds MacKenzie, cannot unsee it now.
I like the star shape as a design element in the abstract. But for a helmet logo, it doesn’t work for me, specifically because Job One for a Houston team is differentiating itself visually from the other team in the state that more famously wears a giant star on the helmet. Swap the bull for the HT logo on the helmets and I’m fully on board with this concept.
I got pig vibes too. I never thought I’d ever mistake a bull for a pig, but here we are.
I could go for the Jags in the mustard pants. I could also for the Ravens (a look I wish they would do again once a year). I think that Notre Dame’s pants are as close to a mustard than they are a gold.
Brutal
The “star bull” is a very good idea, but I’m afraid there’s no way to make it work. The C-I logo is sweet.
At the cost of the horseshoe logo with so much history behind it? Hard pass.
The Texans logo looks like a dog to me.
Not a fan of these helmet logos, except for Tennessee. When you need to tell people what the logo is like with the Texans star, it doesn’t work. However, I really like the “HT” secondary logo.
I believe the Jaguar car brand threatened with a lawsuit over the leaping Jaguar logo. That is why they didn’t use it on the inaugural helmet.
The Greek pattern on the Titans’ striping is an awesome detail!
The “bull” for the Texans looks like a dog.
The horse for the Colts looks like a wolf.
Another really good round. I especially like the HT logo. And the unis themselves are pretty sharp. My main issue with this group is that I don’t particularly care for the way the logo appears on the helmets. Otherwise, I think these are pretty solid.
The secondary logos here are absolute perfection. The Titans primary logo is exceptional. The uniforms’ color schemes and other designs should not see the light of day. White helmets are so bland, and do nothing to support the great graphics; even the Texans scrapped the white helmets before their inaugural season. You’re a fantastic graphic designer, love to see you team up.
The Tennessee set is great. Logos are excellent, Greek motifs are cool, I like all of it.
I really think Houston’s primary jersey, and maybe the helmet too, should be red. There are three blue teams in the division, and only one red team in the whole AFC. (Though I guess we haven’t seen your Patriots concept yet.) And I’m in the same boat with the folks who prefer the HT logo as the primary, though I think I’m more bullish (heh heh) than most on the star.
The JAX concept is such a huge swing away from what they wear now that it’s hard to picture on the field. Like UCLA, but ’90s maximalist?
The whiskers on the jaguar need to be fixed. Doesn’t look accurate, just looks awkward.
Uniforms are good.
Helmet logos are all downgrades.
Something about the Jaguars logo is off putting to me.
The Texans start logo looks like Babe the pig (from the movie) with a long tail.
The horse in the Colts neck looks too thick.
The Titans logo could work as a secondary logo.
Great work!
Sorry, but I think all four of those are far worse than what those teams wear now. And with the Titans unis, that’s hard to do.
This guy’s designs are pretty bad and getting worse…at least the other guy this week showed improvement with his latest sets.
Tough crowd. Maybe we’re paying him too much money?
In another case of “the colors match, so what are you going to do”, that Houston design looks a LOT like Arizona Wildcats. Two take-aways for me: 1 The Jaguars should lean back in to the gold color. Let Carolina do the blue-black. 2. Tennessee needs to adopt the Greek-antique striping pattern immediately.
I love what you did the Texans, but I don’t think they’d go for sharing a star shaped logo with Dallas. Swap in their current logo and I’d take these to what they’re putting on the field now. I’m not feeling any of the rest.
This set is uneven for me…
HOU – the star-bull is forced, and might be a dog; both Texas teams with a star on their helmets is a big no for me and Dallas got there years ago; I like the HT monogram, and the rest of the look beyond the helmet.
IND – the helmet logo here is also a huge no, not sure a bespoke untraditional font is what the

IND – the helmet logo here is also a huge no, not sure a bespoke untraditional font is what the Colts need but the rest is largely untouched.
JAX – normally, I love non-white numbers on dark jerseys (Raiders in silver, Saints in Vegas gold…) but there isn’t enough contrast between the dark teal and the gold here. And the whiskers on the cat face are not right.
TEN – the split-number font resembles the Memphis Grizzlies and I am not sure Nashville wants that. That aside, this was my favorite of the bunch, from logo to design.
Animal front facing logos look so wrong for me. The Jaguars and Panthers from this series, even the real Ravens alternate. I can deal with it for humanoid logos, but I still prefer when the logo faces the same direction as the player.
