Hello! Paul here. Hope everyone’s enjoying a good holiday season.
I’ve been doing a lot of stuff over on Inconspicuous Consumption that I think would appeal to Uni Watch readers. Last week, for example, I did a deep dive on the history and variety of “Return to Sender” symbols used by the Postal Service (like the ones shown above). It’s sort of like Uni Watch for undeliverable mail! That piece is available here.
While researching that piece, I ended up getting sucked into the adjacent world of non-postal symbols involving pointing hands, like these:
So I ended up writing a separate piece about that. It’s available here.
And today I wrote about the surprisingly varied world of “Fig.” notations on patent drawings, like these:
So it’s like Uni Watch for patents! That piece is available here.
I think all of these pieces qualify as peak Inconspicuous Consumption. You can see what else I’ve been up to on the IC home page.
And if you need a last-minute holiday gift for someone (or several someones), IC subscriptions don’t need to be wrapped or shipped! They’ve available here.
That’s it for now. Best wishes to all of you for a joyous and healthy holiday!
How long is this going to continue?
Good to hear from Paul again, his wonderful site is very addictive for graphic design fans. And he is totally entitled to show up and promote it every now and then.
Don’t forget the line of IC merchandise. Hats, shirts, glasses, etc. Those make excellent gifts as well.
