If you watch tonight’s Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cowboys will be dressed a bit differently from their usual home whites.
A little more than a week after wearing their 1960s Throwbacks on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys will debut another alternate uniform at home, this time the all-white alternate originally created as part a “Color Rush” uniform way back in 2015, the NFL was still operating under the one shell rule, so the Cowboys had to pair their silver helmet with a new jersey and pants. In order to pick up the helmet color, the Cowboys created a set of white pants with a navy/gray/navy stripe, as well as a brand new jersey.
The Cowboys would wear this CR alternate at least once a season from 2015 through 2021.
When the NFL lifted the single shell rule for the 2022 season, the Cowboys (re)introduced a white helmet, which not only would allow them to wear their 1960s throwbacks, they also changed the decals used for the throwbacks to create a new CR helmet.
The team debuted the new “Arctic” Cowboys uniform on December 29, 2022, against the Titans. The team trumpeted the new uniform on social media…
How can something be ⚪️ WHITE HOT 🔥 yet 🧊 ICE COLD 🥶 at the same time⁉️

…and giving the CR uniform the name “Arctic Cowboy.”
The Cowboys defeated the Titans by a score of 27-13, their first win in the new uniforms. It would not be their last.
Following the successful debut of the uniform in 2022, on October 16, 2023, the team again wore the Arctic Cowboy outfit, notching a 20-17 victory over the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
After their 2-0 start in the Arctic outfits, the Cowboys ran them back again in on December 10th, 2023, against the Eagles. Once again they’d emerge victorious with a 33-13 victory over the Eagles, on a Sunday Night Football game.
To this point, the Cowboys were 3-0 in the Arctic CR uniform, all home victories and all worn for prime time games.
This season, the Cowboys again wore the uniforms during another prime time matchup, but this time they wore the CR on the road. In the Meadowlands, Dallas improved to 4-0 in the Arctic White, defeating the New York Giants 20-15.
The Cowboys are putting their perfect 4-0 record on the line tonight when they take on the Bengals in Dallas.
I’ve never been a fan of this uniform. When the NFL/Nike forced the Color Rush program on the entire league, the Cowboys created this new uniform. Back in 2015, they not only created a new jersey, but also new white pants (and wore solid white hosierty for the first time in team history). Since the helmet was still their regular silver bucket, the team added a gray stripe between the two navy stripes on the pants, in essence to bring a bit of silver/gray to the otherwise all white/navy uniform. Once the team was allowed to wear an alternate white shell, the need for the gray pants striping was no more, but the team has stuck with it. It now looks out of place on the uniform.
But you can’t argue with the Cowboys’ success in the Arctic unis — 4-0 over the past two-plus seasons, with a good chance to make it 5-0 against a disappointing 4-8 Bengals squad. Obviously four games is a very small sample, but an undefeated record in a certain uni combination isn’t nothing.
What do you think of the unis? Should they ditch this alternate entirely, since the Color Rush program is basically over? Or should they continue to wear them, especially considering the on-field success the team has had in them? And should the team keep them, but tweak the pants, to eliminate the only (now no longer necessary) gray from the outfit?
No reason they can’t wear their throwback pants with this uniform to actually match the helmet link
Long-time Cowboys fan. I could stand the CR uniform until they added the white helmet, now I like it a lot. I also agree, it would look better with the throw-back pants. The CR pants look good with the navy jersey, so keep it for that.
That should have read I could not stand the CR uniform…
Also as a long time Cowboys fan, I hate these uni’s. I have always loved the fact that they would wear their traditional whites at home and then would only wear their blues when forced by the home team.
That said, right now Dallas has more issues than what uni to wear each game. “all in”
Can we stop using artic and icy white? Just being a tool for big uni
CLEAN!
; )
Are there actually cowboys in the Arctic? Are there cows? Or horses? Or whatever cowboys chase around?
As much as I hate the Cowboys, it’s hard to argue that any iteration of their uniforms is a bad one, pretty much due to their color scheme. I’m normally a purist when it comes to unis, but these don’t strike me as straying far from that at all. Not like they went rogue with Falcons/Seahawks/Commanders monstrosities.
I’m not a Cowboys fans but their uniforms are generally good. Now if Dallas ever goes BFBS…
As a as a big fan I am of the ‘Boys throwbacks(a look I wish they had stuck with from the onset)…these ‘miss’ for me, more-so with the white helmet.
Maybe it’s the star and number outlining… could be the shoulder stars getting lost in the shoulder caps. It’s probably both.
As a cowboys fan I like that they are pretty much an inverse of the blue cowboy jersey. At least with the block outlined numbers being inversed.
If you ain’t watching the Simpsons version of this game tonight, you ain’t a real one.
Geez, couldn’t they put that football right side up? That upside down NFL logo is killing me.
I’m fine with this white uni. What they need to do is decide what blue to use, and ditch the non-matching blue-silver pants for silver that would match their helmet. I think they are now a navy blue team, but I actually might prefer they replace the navy in their various uniforms for the brighter royal blue. It would be cool to see a mock up of this.
“…as well as a brand new jersey.”
I wouldn’t exactly call it brand new. The double star jersey was Jerry’s pet project from the mid 90’s, it just has the standard cowboys NOB font now.
Hey, All.
I am going to go full on Tusseladd and say the Cowboys‘ uniforms have not been right since the mid 1970s. Give me the silver of the helmet matching the silver of the pants . . . or near match. Can’t tell if it is an exact match on the GUD. Maybe it’s my eyes. Anyway, none of this arctic Cowboy or color rush or throwback or whatever. Yech! Hurrah for the uniform days of Dandy Don!
Pair these with the classic pants and navy socks and they’d be pretty good. Maybe even make the star a little smaller or just remove it on the sleeves. Could put a star under the collar.
Better yet, just make the stars on the jersey smaller and silver. Numbers blue outlined in silver and you have two pant options to go with them. Make the star on the helmet silver outlined in blue with silver in the middle of the blue stripes. Throw in a silver facemask and that’s a beautiful uniform.
I hate these stupid uniforms. just wear the classic cowboy ones and forget these cheap looking crap unis
The normal white setup is cheap crap looking. These are superior.
Look much much better than the standard white setup. MUCH better. Now if they wore blue socks, it would be epic. Come to think of it, I’m a genius. They need to go to these full time.
