The Wisconsin Badgers Men’s Basketball team will debut their new “By The Players” uniforms this evening, when they open their B1G schedule against the Michigan Wolverines.
We got our first look at these uniforms back in October, when the school released a video showing them off.
Then, in anticipation of tonight’s game, they re-released that same video.
It's time for a fresh new look 👀🔥
On Tuesday night, we'll debut this year's "By the Players" alternate uniforms, in collaboration with @UAbasketball

As I noted back in October, the “By the Players” alternate uniforms were designed by members of the Wisconsin basketball team. This is now the fifth iteration of its unique player-designed look. I also lamented at the time…
As is now the way things are done, the team unveiled the new alternates via a social media video. And as is becoming increasingly common, the video was not accompanied by any still photos. I was able to make some screen shots, so those will have to suffice in lieu of any photos.
The team has now released several photos.
One of the uniform elements I found interesting was the skyline logo above the NOB — that’s a representation of the skyline of Madison, Wisconsin, where the main UW campus is located. We got an additional look at this interesting detail.
We also got a few still shots of the uniform details I had identified in the video review piece. I still love Bucky on the side of the shorts!
In a pretty cool move, the school will be giving away a free hooded t-shirt, inspired by this season’s “By the Players” uniform, to the first 1,000 students in attendance at tonight’s game.
The No. 11 ranked Badgers (who are sporting a perfect 8-0 record) tip off against the 6-1 Michigan Wolverines tonight at 9:00 pm (ET).
What do you guys think of these special “By The Players” uniforms?
Its cool for the most part, love bucky on the shorts…. scrap the side panels and the Madison skyline, screams of “trying to hard.”
Bingo on the skyline. If your city doesn’t have an iconic skyline, then you shouldn’t be using it on a uniform.
Did the players want that tacky Under Armour logo smackdab in the middle of the collar like that?
Hahaha. When I think of Madison (which isn’t often), a towering, distinctive skyline is the first thing that comes to mind. Having said that, they do have a nice mascot and it makes sense to make it the hero of the shorts. The rest? Meh.
If the players ACTUALLY created this, then it’s cool.
If not, whatev.
I don’t know exactly *how much* of the design was actually done by the players, but the school says they were (surely with the aid of graphic designers).
That skyline looks like “generic 20,000 person town”. Scrap that. The side panels on the jersey are… interesting, but not repeated on the shorts.
I like the drop shadow and Bucky, but that’s it.
I know I’m a couple days late to this article, but as a native Wisconsinite, the Madison skyline does mean something to the area. The state capitol dome is the tallest point in the city and very prominent looking across the lakes that make up Madison. Not saying that the execution is great, but that’s why it’s there
