The Philadelphia Flyers have announced a helmet advertiser for their game tonight, and the remainder of the 2024-25 NHL season, and the advertiser’s logo will appear on both the black and white helmets. Financial details, unsurprisingly, were undisclosed.
Because there is no longer any shame associated with with slapping an ad on a uniform or helmet, the team trumpeted the new advertiser via a hype video.
Defined by grit, toughness, heritage and reliability. Together let’s drive.

Because the advertiser — vehicle manufacturer Chevrolet — shares so much in common with their advertisee, the Flyers, both are “defined by grit, toughness, heritage and reliability.”
The Chevrolet ad will be displayed on the Flyers helmets for the first time in game action at tonight’s home game versus the Carolina Hurricanes at 7:30 pm (ET).
“Chevrolet is a historic brand, known for its toughness, reliability, and strength,” said Todd Glickman, Chief Revenue Officer, Comcast Spectacor. “These are all qualities that define the Flyers team and organization, and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a renowned brand at every home and away game.”
Of course, those qualities apply equally to every NHL team (or almost any team in any sport). But teams and their advertisers are always about “partnerships” and the like, when in almost all cases the advertiser is simply buying space on a uniform/helmet, and seeking to increase brand exposure.
And the Chevy ads are about as large as any helmet ad in the NHL.
And if you’re really curious, here’s how the ad will look with the orange, white and black jerseys:
This is not the Flyers first helmet advertiser. Previously they had a helmet advertiser for the COVID-shortened 2021 season (Tata Consultancy Services) as a means to recoup revenue since there were no crowds. Those decals were gone by the next season. Now the helmet ads have returned.
The Flyers’ deal with Chevrolet will also include some increased digital signage and ad space throughout the Flyers arena, and a vehicle display at the concourse of the arena’s 11th Street entrance, the team announced.
But wait — there is some good news … if you happen to drive a Chevy. The team announced that any fan driving to Wednesday night’s game in a Chevy will be able to park in the Wells Fargo Center lots for free.
Not a free (or discounted) ticket, or discounts on food and beverages, or even merch in the team store. Free parking. For tonight only. IF you arrive in a Chevy vehicle.
I guess it’s better than nothing.
aw, i thought they were going to use the corvette flags.
everyone if doing this advertising thing all wrong. if you are going to advertise on the players, at least make it look cool, not boring.
*sigh*
Ugh.
Nothing says Philly quite like an ad courtesy of 1 of Detroit’s Big 3.
Wonder if their Lehigh Valley affiliate will switch from ‘sponsoring’ Toyotas in NASCAR’s lower tier series race at Pocono too.
Next we’ll hear that Wawa is the new Red Wings advertiser. haha
I usually don’t watch hype videos but the Corvette interested me. It was a 1970-72 model in, of course, Ontario Orange.
Of all these ugly ads, this one seems like the easiest to ignore. So at least there’s that.
Flyers have such great uniforms.
Sure do…Except for the plain-Jane arm numbers.
Not sure how Flyers fans feel, but I get this sense when I see the current uniforms. It looks like they left the sewing room too soon before completion. They should take them back and put the rest on. We’d have a classic, great Flyers uniform.

And enough please with that black third. Huge sleeve numbers were and should have been meant to be worn for a Stadium Series jersey. Not for a regular alternate. The Flyers could do a lot better with a black third.
Parking is so ridiculously expensive, it’s not a bad deal.
The Flyers last won the Stanley Cup in 1975, when driving a Chevrolet might have been cool.
Both are terrible on ice
Helmet ads still bug me less than anything on a jersey/sweater. Even the lame ones in the MLB postseason. I don’t know if it’s “uniform vs gear,” but it’s slightly less offensive somehow. Now get Gritty in a big Chevy work van.
