The North Carolina State Wolfpack have unveiled new uniforms for the 2024-25 season. On social media yesterday, the team first unveiled the new jerseys.
New year. New threads.

Fortunately, the team went on to wear the new jerseys (and full uniform) last evening in a pre-season game, so we’ll look at those in a second. But first the jersey:
The white jersey features thick neck and shoulder stripes, in a thin red/thick black/thin red pattern. The “NC STATE” wordmark, in a bespoke font, is in red with a thin black outline. Jersey number below that is also in red with a thin black outline. Like many of adidas’ basketball jerseys, the striping around the collar doesn’t go completely around, leaving a space for the maker’s mark beneath the truncated collar striping. There is also an ACC patch on the upper left side of the jersey.
The back of the jersey contains a small logo of “Tuffy” — a wolf head wearing a sailor cap — and which has been the primary athletic logo since 2021. Below that is player NOB in a red bespoke font, in a radial arch. You can see how players with longer names have quite a squashed arch. Rear numbers are larger and in the same style as the front.
I wouldn’t normally report on “just” a new jersey unveil, but fortunately the team wore the full uniforms last night in an exhibition game, giving us a look at the shorts. Here’s how those looked:
The shorts feature a red/black/red waistband, as well as red/black/red striping on the hem, replicating the striping pattern on the sleeve and neck openings. The Tuffy logo is also on both sides of the shorts.
The new uniforms are similar to the iteration worn previously. Here’s a comparison of the two:
As you can see, on the previous uniform, the jersey collar was solid red, with no striping on the arm openings. The previous pants had a solid red waistband and hem stripe. The wordmark and numbers are basically unchanged.
While this isn’t a radical departure from the previous set, I like the addition of the black striping to both the jersey and pants. Since the official colors of the NC State Wolfpack are “Wolfpack Red,” “Wolfpack White,” and “Wolfpack Black,” the addition of the black isn’t BFBS, and I think it makes for a better overall look. It goes to show you that sometimes big overhauls aren’t needed during a redesign, but the subtle addition of a third color can make a big difference in the appearance.
Your thoughts?
NC State is horrible and has no drip they be some garbage go heels
GTHC
Why do #12’s shorts look like they have a solid red waistband vs. the red/black/red worn by his teammates?
Charlie steele and watson brown get out leave we do not talk to haters
Get out little boy
How on earth do you interpret my comment as hating?
It’s the way it’s folded over.
Much more appealing to the eye. This look would work for San Diego State as well.
I like that the arm openings reflect the collar, but the red and black stripe is too dark. I’d like to see it in classic red/white/red.
Something about the font reminds me of Louisville.
Not a fan of italic NOBs, but arched italic NOBs are even worse.
The striping around the arm openings is an upgrade. The truncated striping at the base of the collar is just frustrating though. It makes it look like they’re wearing a medal around their necks with Adidas as the booby prize. I wonder if the striping at the bottom of the shorts would look better if it followed the notch instead of stopping there. Not too crazy about the NOB font.
Tuffy is on both the jersey and the shorts so I like it. Adding the black is an improvement, still not a fan of this peculiar bespoke font. Will this style get translated to red and/or black uniforms as well?
Would much rather have seen the stripes be red in the middle with thin black outlines rather than what it is now. Currently the black overwhelms the red.
Also would like the waistband to match with black/RED/black.
Definitely an improvement, but something about State’s uniforms across all sports (maybe minus baseball) is always lacking.
Not sure why but as someone who likes Adidas apparel their college bball jerseys always look worse than ones made by Nike.
Overall, a slight upgrade, but would be even better if the waistband matched the others.
