Oregon Ducks Release New “Warp Speed” Generation O Uniforms

The Oregon Ducks have unveiled their fifth, and final, “Generation O” uniform for the 2024 season. The new uniforms will join the “Fly Era,” the “Gang Green,” the “Mighty Oregon,” and the “Heroes” Generation O uniforms that have already been released.

The Ducks will debut the new uniforms this Saturday, when they take on new B1G rival Michigan, in the Big House, at 3:30 pm (ET).

As always, we’ll start with the hype video:

The video features former standouts Dennis Dixon and Jonathan Stewart. This wasn’t coincidental, as Dixon and Stewart were instrumental in the Ducks’ 39-7 win at Michigan in 2007.

The new uniforms are similar in design to the Fly Era and Heroes uniforms. They will feature a chrome helmets with white jerseys and pants.

The chrome helmet will feature chrome wings on the sides, as well as a chrome facemask. The white jersey has silver/chrome wings on the shoulders, and a small diamondplate pattern across the top of the chest.

The jersey features black, perforated numbers (with a twist)…

…depending on what angle the numbers are viewed from, they are “color shifting” and will appear to take on a green hue:

Stitched inside the collar are the words “WARP SPEED”:

The rear of the jersey features player NOB on a nameplate, along with larger, color-shifting numbers, like are seen on the front.

The pants are solid white. Here are a couple looks at the full uniform:

Now that Oregon has joined the B1G, we can expect to see many more UM/UO matchups. The two have played each other a mere five times previously. The Ducks won in 2003 and again in 2007. Michigan won their prior three meetings, in 1973, 1960, and 1948.

Mighigan are the defending National Champions, but have fallen on harder times so far in 2024. They are currently 5-3 overall and 3-2 in B1G play. The Ducks, meanwhile, are currently the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, undefeated at 8-0 (5-0 in B1G games).

__________

I not a yuge fan of these uniforms, but I’m sure they’ll be a big hit with the players and fans. The color-shifting numbers are interesting — obviously we’ll need to see them in action to see how visible the shift actually is during play. And while I’m not usually a fan of shiny or chrome helmets, I like what I see so far — of course, playing outdoors in Michigan (and depending on the weather), their reflectivity will mirror that of the sky, so we may see some interesting interplay with that.

Your thoughts?

I thought the same thing. I was very disappointed in 2015 that they chose to wear white and gray because they wore some gorgeous candy apple green uniforms in the semifinals against Florida State.

Agreed. I always enjoy when they bring back the chrome lids, but hate white/grey uni combos for any team (at least these ones can appear green *sometimes*). The silver lining (no pun intended) to Oregon losing that 2015 title game was no one wanted to see those unis ever again.

I think Oregon looks best in yellow and green (bright green, not that drab darker green they’ve mercifully moved away from in more recent seasons); but, if there’s *any* team in the country that has earned the right to wear non-school colors, I guess it’s them.

Oregon has such a great color combo (green and white). It’s such a shame the go out of their way to look like shit with these crazy themed unforms. Just wear the damn school color already. I thought the black/highlighter unis were the worst, but these are just boring. And, “warp speed?” All engines at “puke” Mr. Sulu.

They’ve worn jerseys with that “beetle” colorshift treatment at least once a year since the 2019 season, if you want to take a look.

I usually dislike gimmicky numbers, but I really like the fact that these numbers accurately reflect the color changing feathers on a male Mallard’s head (I prefer the numbers do it over the helmets, so I’ll take the win). Although it’s looking like it’s going to be cloudy here in Ann Arbor on Saturday, so we’ll see how it shows up on the field.

They didn’t include one is the best parts of that game when the Oregon player took a whack at the Michigan field with their sledgehammer pregame

I’m in the minority (of 1?) here, I like them. I’m partial to white and metallics, gold and chrome, and I like the color shifting numbers.

Generally speaking though, I do wish they’d wear green and gold more.

All these gimmicky uniforms over the past 20 years and nothing to show for it. I guess the kids would rather play with shiny things and be “swaggy”.

Texas never deviates from their basic 99.99999999% of the time and have nothing to show for it in the last 20 years. Oregon has been a top 10 program over the last 20 years after being mostly irrelevant the previous 20 years.

School colors are yellow and green, yet none of that in this uniform. The color shifting numbers don’t count. Could be any school really.

    A thought…

If you constantly change your identity, do you have one. I’d love to see the Ducks play a season…or 5, in a traditional uni….

At this point we should stop calling them Oregon or the Ducks but name them for what they are: the Nike PR Team. So the NPRT will play Michigan. As a company team NPRT can wear anything the company tells them to wear. No restrictions of school colors anymore.
