No. 1 Oregon Ducks Unveil Uni Combo for Saturday’s Game Against Illinois

The Oregon Ducks, ranked No. 1 as we head into Week 9 of the NCAAFB season, unveiled their uni combo for their big (B1G) game with new Conference rival, No. 20 ranked Illinois. Illinois has been on quite a special uni run this season, with several throwback helmets and last weekend’s “Red Grange” 1924 throwback.

The Ducks, of course, have often gone multiple seasons in a row without wearing the same uni combo in a game, and this year they’ve kept to that protocol. But this weekend’s uniform will look familiar.

While not repeating a combo, the team will be rewearing the helmets and jerseys from their new “Heroes” Generation O uniform. This weekend though, they’ll go with black pants and shoes.

Here are some looks at Saturday’s combo:

So the Ducks will be getting their money’s worth out of the Heroes helmet/jersey. Most of Oregon’s other uniforms this season — besides the Heroes debut and the “blackout” against Ohio State — have featured the Ducks in new uniforms with a pre-2000 retro feel, which I have preferred, but I know these more recent harkbacks are very popular in Autzen too.

And they’ve still yet to repeat a combo this season.

__________

Here’s a look at all the uniforms worn by Oregon this season, along with their opponent and scores:

Oregon 24 – Idaho 14
August 31, 2024

__________

Oregon 37 – Boise State 34
September 7, 2024

__________

Oregon 49 – Oregon State 14
September 14, 2024

__________

Oregon 34 – UCLA 13
September 28, 2024

_________

Oregon 31 – Michigan State 10
October 4, 2024

__________

Oregon 32 – Ohio State 31
October 12, 2024

__________

Oregon 35 – Purdue 0
October 18, 2024

__________

Even though Illinois is ranked No. 20, Oregon is a prohibitive favorite in this game (currently favored by +21.5), so the Ducks will be looking to go to 8-0 and retaining their No. 1 ranking. It’s their first No. 1 rank since 2012.

It’ll be an early game in Eugene (12:30 local time start), which is a 3:30 pm (ET) game, and will be shown on CBS. I’ll definitely be watching.

The difference between their more traditional uniforms and these monstrosities is the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing a bullet.

Personally, I don’t care. I don’t care (and never have) for any team that wears non-official school colors for the sake of selling merchandise or recruiting or (fill in the blank). Oregon’s colors are green and gold. Period. Wear green and gold. Not silver, not black.

Same for “city edition” versions of all pro teams (MLB, NBA, etc.). Wear your colors. Stop the stupid. I dislike Nike intensely. Go back to selling shoes, which were never that great either….

I agree. I’m a Gator fan and can’t believe they, after years and years, finally caved in last year and wore solid black. Nothing about that made sense other than to sell black jerseys. Nike just can’t miss out on an opportunity to sell more merch. But, guess we are the minority these days. I guess Oregon can get a pass though. It’s been their thing to wear a different uniform combo every game for years now. I absolutely loved the green helmets they wore the first three games of the season.

I generally agree, but will make a point that the Oregon official colors are Green and Yellow. While their throwbacks are closer to the standard warmer “Athletic Gold” their school colors have never included true metallic gold or even the darker yellow gold that Minnesota/USC wear. Oregon yellow is much more lemony. It is said to have been adopted in 1893 inspired by the state flower, the Oregon Grape. So getting back to current uniforms, the bright (almost highlighter) yellow that they use mostly is relatively accurate. Black, silver, gray etc is not a school color and I don’t mind used as accent but not full uniform. -Your faithful Ducktracker link

We say on here that we like it when team XYZ looks like team XYZ. I think that for Oregon, these uniforms fit that motif.

Feel like Oregon has been in the uniform wilderness the last few years with the constant mono looks and huge numbers. They’ve gotten back to their bread and butter this season. Interesting new combos every week. Love it.

Oregon has new uniforms; and in other news: water is wet and the sky is blue…

They look like they are wearing black-colored mom jeans with belly button high waist. Bad. Real bad.
