New York Yankees Unveil World Series Jersey and Cap Patches

The Yankees have unveiled the World Series patches they will wear on their home jerseys and caps. Since all playoff teams this year have jersey ads occupying space on their sleeves, it appears the Yankees (and likely the Dodgers) will be wearing a 2024 World Series patch on the front of their jerseys.

The Yankees have placed their home jersey patch just above the iconic “NY” on their pinstripes.

This follows the 2023 patch protocol, where the Rangers and Diamondbacks both had their patches on the chest.

In 2022, both the Phillies and the Astros had the World Series patches on their sleeves.

The caps will also be outfitted with World Series patches, and they’ll be located in their usual location: the right side of the cap.

The Dodgers have yet to unveil any photos of their uniforms with World Series patches, but it’s a safe bet they’ll be on the front of the jersey and side of the cap.

The 2024 World Series starts this Friday evening in Los Angeles. It marks the Yankees first time in the World Series since 2009, when they won it all. The Dodgers last appeared in the Fall Classic in 2020, when they too won it all, following a truncated COVID season.

This will be the 12th time the Dodgers and Yankees will be meeting in the World Series. I’ll have a rundown of those Series’ later this week.

I don’t like the patch placement, but with all teams in the playoffs (and 23 of 30 teams overall) having sleeve ads, it appears the patch will be on the front of the jerseys for the forseeable future.

Your thoughts?

The thing that’s irking me about this is the NY logo is centered with respect to the pinstripes but the WS patch ISN’T centered relative to the logo.

This is exactly the kind of detail I wish people who were making the decisions would at least consider. You “get it”

I’m sure it’s for brand symmetry with the Dodgers, but there’s really no good reason not to put the patch on the sleeve opposite the ad patch.

The WS logo has the MLB logo, so I would put the WS logo on the back of the cap instead of the MLB only logo. IMO that is preferable to the patch being on the right side.

Die-hard Yankee fan here. I was ready to shell out $200+ on a jersey with a nice WS patch on the sleeve. I’m not buying this crap. This year’s jerseys (we all know) stink anyway. I’ll wait until they fix the jerseys and I’ll put my own patch on the sleeve.

Better yet. No World Series patches at all. We already know it’s the World Series. Just say no to clutter. Go watch videos from the ‘77 or ‘78 World Series between these two franchises. Tell me it’s not miles better. (Also, enjoy those mostly ad-free stadiums. So refreshing.)

Yankees fans LOVE patches. New York is probably the only city I’ve been to where I’ve noticed a good chunk of hat wearers sporting some sort of patchified hat.

I wish they’d get rid of the post season patch on the sleeve for the World Series. That way, the patch can just be on the sleeve. Oh well, no biggie. I like the patch on the road jersey much better.

The way the Commish’s Trophy is set turned to the right as we see it, why not put the patches on the right breast? Plus, more space is available on both teams’ unis. I do like others’ thoughts on making it a sleeve patch, just so it doesn’t interfere with how the batters and pitchers do their stuff. Regardless, it should be a great series (and great looking).
