Another one bites the dust.
The New York Islanders, who had heretofore avoided putting an ad on their jersey, are joining more than half the league in having jersey advertising.
Because we’ve gotten to the point where cluttering the uniform with an ad is not even an afterthought in many of the major sports, teams without such advertising are now jumping on the train (apparently they found out they can make a boatload of money selling the ad space, and advertisers must be getting a pretty good bang for their buck too), teams are no longer shy about trumpeting their new “patch partners” or whatever less noxious sounding term the spinsters come up with. But I digress.
We are excited to name @SoloStove as our official partner and the first ever brand to appear on the Islanders’ jersey! 🔥

As you can see, the Islanders’ new advertiser is Solo Stove, a company which produces “smokeless firepits.” According to this article,
the deal is an opportunity to enter the New York market in a way that fits its products. Long Island has 8 million people and is more residential than the city itself, meaning fewer studio apartments and more homes with yards that might host gatherings around a fire. UBS Arena also hosts more than 100 events per year across hockey and music.
And this is a pretty big deal too: it is multiyear agreement to put SoloStove’s flame logo on the home and away jerseys of both the New York Islanders and the AHL’s Bridgeport Islanders. There’s more: not only will the ad be on both home and away sweaters, the plaza in front of UBS Arena will be renamed “Solo Stove Plaza” and the company’s products “will used before and after events at the venue.” (I guess that means there will be firepits located outside the arena pre- and post-game.)
Here’s a closer look at the ad on the home jersey:

And a shot from the video of the ad being stitched onto the sweater:

The Islanders got this deal done just in time, as last night was their home opener. And of course, just in time to show off the new ad to the home fans.

I got a chuckle when I noticed the Islanders posted a video showing new player Anthony Duclair being welcomed to the Isles. Of course, he’s wearing a jersey with the ad, but — after the proud partnership proclaimed between the two — placed the graphic in a way as to partially obscure the ad! I mean, it’s still sorta-legible, but if you didn’t realize the team just got an ad, and actually wanted to see who the advertiser was, you probably couldn’t.
WELCOME TO THE ISLANDERS, DUCLAIR! pic.twitter.com/AMJi5aeepu

Welcome aboard, S loS ove!
In terms of jersey ads this is one of the better ones. Colors match the jersey and not a scummy sports betting site
Sigh.
