The Miami Heat have added a new jersey advertiser, and the name should be familiar to you: Robinhood.
That’s because that same advertiser recently inked a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. And last year, that same advertiser put its mark on the Washington Wizards’ jerseys. So, the Heat are now the third team to have Robinhood, “a financial services platform that pioneered commission-free stock trading,” on their uniforms.
According to the team, “The partnership extends beyond the jersey patch sponsorship. The multi-year deal aligns the HEAT with the rapidly expanding fintech brand and will provide Robinhood with extensive exposure across multiple HEAT communication channels and social media platforms.”
And in what is now obligatory, it seems, the team announced the ad deal via video:

“It is no small thing to share space on the front of the Heat jersey, and we are delighted to do so with Robinhood,” John Vidalin, the EVP and Chief Commercial Officer of The HEAT Group, said. “We are committed to helping Robinhood grow their business across HEAT Nation and welcome them with open arms to the South Florida market.”
The Heat will feature the ad on all jersey styles, including the Association, Icon, Statement, and City Edition uniforms.
The Heat previously displayed a Carnival ad on their unis.
But don’t worry. The jerseys are “still clean.”
Same jerseys. New partner. Still clean.

But don’t worry, “they’re still terrible”.
I was really hoping it would be McDonald’s, because what would be a better advertiser for those stupid “Heat Culture” jerseys?
Pistons had a fluff piece in The Athletic about their new ad patch too. It’s all gross.
Can you start putting that yuk emoji on the gratuitous uniform releases that dominate these headlines now?
Better yet, let’s just relegate these stories to the ticker and stop giving it a full article. I believe it does need to be mentioned but not a full-on write-up.
Whatever. It’s all just visual noise at this point.
Robin Hood was stealing from the rich to provide for the poor, Robinhood proposes to the rich to help them become even richer. Now that is rich.
