With the College Basketball season nearly upon us, the Louisville Cardinals have unveiled a new set of white uniforms they’ll wear for the 2024-25 season.
Let’s go straight to the video…

It’s a surprisingly well-lit video, showing some excellent shots of the uniforms — basically outtakes from a photo session.
Let’s go over the unis…
The jerseys feature two thin black stripes surrounding a thicker red stripe, which go around the neck and arm openings. The collar/neck stripe is unfortunately truncated on the front, to allow for plenty of space for the maker’s mark. “LOUISVILLE” is in black with a thick red outline/shadow. Numbers are also black, with a red outline.
An ACC logo inside a basketball is on the left chest, just below the shoulder.
The shorts feature a black/white/red/white/black striping pattern both on the waist and on the pants hems.
The sides of the shorts feature a “dunking cardinal” logo.

If you don’t follow much college hoops, or are unfamiliar with the previous uniforms, these actually differ quite a bit.
As you can see, there are several differences, including the collar striping, the new striping around the arm openings, both the wordmark and numbers have reversed the black and red (and the wordmark now has a much thicker outline/shadowing effect). The shorts are quite different as well, with a different waistband and striping, as well as the removal of the “toothy angry” logo on the front, and the addition of the dunking cardinal on the sides.
These uniforms are mostly fine, although I question making the wordmark black with a thick red outline/shadow. It’s a difficult enough wordmark to read as it is, rendered even more difficult with the colors/outlines. I like the new pants stripes, and I love the dunking cardinal logos.
The Cardinals are scheduled to face Young Harris College (Oct. 21) and Spalding (Oct. 28) in exhibition games before their season opener at home Nov. 4 against Morehead State.
Your thoughts? Do you think the new uniforms are an improvement or a push, or should they have left well enough alone — or somewhere in between?
They’re overall an improvement, but how hard would it have been to make the jerseys match the shorts? There is no reason for the stripe patterns to be different.
The striping pattern not matching is throwing my OCD off.
Massive props for the dorkiest hype photo of all time. They all look like are actually having fun!
“Hype photos…”
Absolutely right.
Nobody cares about stripe consistency anymore :(
One thing I’ll add is that those shorts are from last year’s primary uniform set (trying to include a link to a photo below, not sure if it will work in the comment section or not). The uniforms noted as “Old” in the image above were used more as an alternate. So I’m hoping this means the actuals new shorts just haven’t come in yet and when they do the striping will match the jerseys but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I agree the black writing surrounded by red makes it much harder to read. This comes from a guy who does statistics for announcers. Also I agree with everyone else, why can’t the striping be the same on the shorts as the top? I think the main reason is Adidas has just templates they fill in the color with and has no creativity or put any thought into their uniforms. There was a time the majorit of the teams in the Sun Belt were Adidas and all their styles were the same.
They’re gonna look great winning 3 conference games this season.
Ah, a number 93.
Yep, that rule seems to be fully and completely blown up!
I didn’t realize wearing “icy white uniforms” now includes two giant diamond-stud earrings.
Not 1.
Not 2.
But 3 pictures (not Uni Watch’s fault) of athletes with their mouths open showing “passion and intensity”.
Tired, old and worn out.
It’s weird – they fixed the things that needed changing, like the shorts. But then they went and changed the things that were fine – like red numbers with black outlines, and reversed it. Less legible, and I think of a team named “Cardinals” as a red team, not a black team. And while I like the jersey borders in a vacuum, they do not match the shorts.
Louisville’s wordmark beyond five feet away is an illegible disaster.

Been said and I’ll say it. The shirt and shorts look like they are two completely different uniform sets. They don’t come close to matching.
