Apparently Pearl Jam Bassist Has Leaked the New Philly 76ers City Edition Jersey

Jersey leaks come in all sizes and shapes, and sometimes they occur in the strangest of places. Such was the case on Monday night, when Pearl Jam played a gig in Philadelphia, at the Wells Fargo Center.

During that show, the band’s bassist, Jeff Ament, was wearing a white Philly 76ers jersey that is strikingly similar to the 2021-22 City Edition uniform that paid “homage to the iconic Philadelphia Spectrum, ‘America’s Showplace,’ which served as the 76ers’ home arena from 1967-96.”

While the 76ers have neither confirmed nor denied the jersey Ament wore will be their new 2024-25 “City” Edition uniform, a league source confirmed to On Pattison that this is in fact the Sixers’ new 2024-2025 City Edition jersey.

The new jersey, if indeed legit, will be a white version of the 2021-22 City edition worn by the Sixers that season. The new jersey will feature red piping around the shoulders and neck, with “Sixers” in a red font that is similar to the one used on Philly’s 1971-75 jerseys. Those font on those jerseys was slightly arched, whereas the 2021-22 City ediiton, as well as the jersey worn by Jeff Ament, is straight across the chest. The 2021-22 jersey had red/orange/green/blue tiled side stripes — as does the one worn by Ament.

Front number (centered) is blue. Whereas the 1971-75 jerseys used a block font (with blue numbers outlined in red), both the 2021-22 jersey and the one seen Monday night have rounded numbers.

As you can see from the splash photo, NOB will be red in what looks like a standard block font, with rear number in solid blue (same style as on the front).

So how did Jeff Ament come to acquire what is (most likely) the new City edition jersey? According to On Pattison, “We’re also told the Sixers reached out to the group, knowing Eddie Vedder was a fan of the Spectrum uniform (Pearl Jam closed out the Spectrum), and provided them with the updated white version of the City Edition.”

If true, then it was the 76ers themselves who leaked the jersey!

We’ve seen leaked jerseys, caps and uniforms before, including some by social media influencers who were given early access to the product, so the Sixers leak isn’t entirely a new thing. But this is probably the first jersey ever to be leaked by a major rock band.

We’ll need to still have confirmation that this is, in fact, the new City edition, but all signs point in that direction.

I was in town for the Pearl Jam shows and when I saw the jersey, my initial thought was “haven’t seen that one before, but there are too many to keep track of”. Regardless, really nice nod to the Spectrum.

A funny confession from me, on a tangentially-related note: In the mid-2000s decade (and yes, this is a Mandela Effect story), I thought that Jeff Ament played in MLB for the Mariners; however, I mistook him for a guy named Jeff CLEMENT, who had a short career for said team. XD

    True story:
Pearl Jam got their name because one of the band members had a grandmother named Pearl that made a special “adults-only-special occasion” jam that included mushrooms…..
    Yep…..that kind……..

I wonder if his jersey had an ad on it. Tough to tell since all the photos here show his guitar strap slung over that particular shoulder where an ad might be.

Was at the show. There was another jersey hung on speakers, believe was #7. Both had the crypto ad on wearer’s upper left. Orange chest, white sleeve Flyers jersey was hung on speakers too. Jeff Ament had a Sixers jersey on for Night 1 show on Saturday too during encore, but do not think that was a “new” release.

I was at the Spectrum for 2 of the 4 Pearl Jam shows that closed it down, including the finale on Halloween 2009. Great memories of one of my favorite places from childhood. I have a Spectrum seat in my basement. This is a great tribute to America’s Showplace. This is a CC I can support.
