The Hershey Bears, who have played in the American Hockey League (AHL) since the 1938–39 season — the longest continuously operating member club of the league still playing in its original city, Hershey, PA — have introduced new home and away uniforms for the 2024-25 AHL season.
We don’t normally feature AHL teams on Uni Watch, but the Bears have deep historical roots and their uniforms are excellent. They also feature what are unique colors: chocolate, tan, cream and white.
The team showed off the uniforms on Social Media and released a reveal video as well:
Same tradition. Same expectations. New threads.

According to the team
The new sweaters feature a streamlined look that maintains the club’s iconic Chocolate and White motif, while continuing to showcase cream accents. The jerseys are a blend of classic and contemporary, and they feature a simplified template that proudly highlights the club’s primary logo as the crest. Bold horizontal striping is featured on the new jerseys, and contrasting-color shoulder yokes are prominent. Elements from the club’s previous jerseys including vertical piping and underarm gussets have been removed in favor of a sleeker and more refined design that is perfect for the AHL’s most historic franchise.
Here is a look at the full uniforms:
As you can see, the home sweater is brown and the road jersey is white. Both jerseys feature horizontal striping and a large Hershey Bears crest. Both jerseys feature shoulder yokes in contrasting colors. Each shoulder contains two patches: on the right shoulder is the logo of the club’s National Hockey League affiliate, the Washington Capitals, while the left shoulder has the club’s alternate paw print logo, which has been on the team’s jerseys since 2012.
Per the team: “The Bears and Capitals have a longstanding partnership, and since the two teams joined forces in 2005-06, the Bears have won the Calder Cup five times (2006, 2009, 2010, 2023, 2024). No NHL-AHL pairing has won more Calder Cups in that span. The Bears previously had worn the Capitals logo as a shoulder patch, including when they won back-to-back Calder Cups in 2009 and 2010.”
Each jersey features TV numbers on the sleeve. The white sweater has brown numbers, with a double outline of cream and brown. The brown jersey’s numbers are cream, with a brown/cream double outline.
White jerseys are paired with white helmets, while the brown jerseys have brown buckets. Both jerseys are paired with brown pants, which have two tan stripes running vertically down the side. Road uniforms have white striped socks and home kits have brown. Each has a horizontal striping pattern.
“We’re thrilled to unveil our new jerseys and refreshed look ahead of what should be another exciting season,” said Hershey vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer. “Our brand and the Chocolate and White color scheme are iconic, and these new streamlined jerseys celebrate our decorated history, while looking ahead to our bright future. I look forward to seeing these jerseys on the ice this season as we compete for a third consecutive Calder Cup title.”
Jersey backs will feature nameplates (in the same color of the jersey), with contrasting color NOB. Large rear numbers are in the same style as those on the sleeves.
I’m not normally a fan of using brown as a primary uniform color — not because it’s brown, but because it often seems like a difficult color to properly pair with other colors. But the Hershey Bears have always worked in tan and cream and white with the brown in a very aesthetically pleasing manner, and the new uniforms are no exception. As far as the design of the new uniforms, it’s a solid, classic hockey look. I’m not big on shoulder yokes (for any sport), but even these work well on the new jerseys. Overall, an excellent new set!
For your reference, here’s the Bears’ previous uniform set. You can see how the new one is an improvement.
Your thoughts?
I thought I heard when we visited Hershey Park that the Hershey Chocolate Bar wrapper is actually dark maroon and not brown.
Sure, whatever you say, Hershey. And the purple worn by the Lakers and Sparks is “Forum Blue”, right? (Kings, get your heads out of your breezers.)
I gotta admit, as a rival’s fan, this is an outstanding upgrade from the averted apron stripes and ghosted shoulder yokes. If only the parent club looked this good…
I remember watching the old AHL wars of the 70’s and 80’s. Hershey was always one of the top teams along with the Maine Mariners, Adirondack Red Wings, and my home team New Haven Nighthawks.
These are awesome. Such a cool color scheme too. The only flaw to me is the socks on the white uniform not matching the stripes on the white jersey.
Technically, the stripes don’t match on either uniform, home or road.
Anyone else find it odd that CCM is the official supplier of jerseys for the AHL and CHL, but the NHL has to settle (some – including me – would say stoop so low) to go with Fanatics?
It looks like the Brown jersey and sock stripes are w-b-c-b-w (although different proportions) where as the whit jersey is c-w-b-w-c and the socks c-b-c-b-c (again different strip proportions) are My guess is Fanatics ponied up the cash that CCM wouldn’t
Fanatics merely now owns the factory in Quebec where all the previous jerseys (Rbk & adidas) have been produced for decades. Same uni makers as always. The only difference will be they’re using Fanatics specs (or will use them — I think they are mostly using adidas’ old tailoring for now) and the “F” on the back of the sweater. That’s not to say CCM isn’t better — but it’s not like Fanatics is making them out of whole cloth. Basically nothing, from a uni manufacturing standpoint, has changed.
The Bears were in *desperate* need of new uniforms.
These are a perfect upgrade.
Very nice. I know a lot of people don’t like brown uniforms, but I like these. Love the bear-print shoulder patch. Good stripes, especially those pant stripes. They did well to get rid of the superfluous piping. Main crest logo could be better, but overall these are pretty tasty.
Maybe this site should feature more AHL as it would provide variety and original content
If every unveil is a good as the Bears, I absolutely will. But most of these things seem to fly under the radar.
Please don’t hesitate to point out (shoot an e-mail to UWing) if any AHL uni unveils happen.
Meh…Let’s Go Phantoms!
Gorgeous. The cream color looks AMAZING on the black unis…
Here’s hoping some of the suits behind the parent club take notice of what an upgrade this is.
These are absolutely fantastic.
Absolutely awesome! Time to get a 3rd straight cup!
Love brown uniforms.I’m fine with it but I’ve got some issues here. I like the jerseys but the sock striping not matching the new jersey striping is a minus.
There is not much contrast where the cream touches white. On the brown jersey, same with the sleeve and waist stripes. There is cream and white in the stripe set there but not much distinction.
I would have been more inclined to darken the cream trim a bit to a metallic gold.
It’s refreshing to see a good brown uni once in a while. Breaks up the monotony of reds and blues so prevalent. Actually, I’m really getting root beer float vibes from this uni.
Great uniform upgrade. Get rid of all the horrible piping that is still left in hockey and football. Now there are 4 good uniforms in brown: these new Hershey Bears threads, the current San Diego Padres uniforms (all 3 involving brown), the Cleveland Browns home uniforms (especially with orange pants) and the current Sankt Pauli home set in the Bundesliga. I might forget about the Ivy League Brown Bears football uniforms…checking…OK, make that 5 great uniforms in brown.
These look fantastic, well done Bears
I could do without the horizontal belly stripe. Other than that, these are good.
