There are four teams in the AFC South: the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. The Texans completely redesigned for the 2024 season and will feature four new uniforms, while the Jaguars have introduced a 1998 throwback and a new white helmet. Read on for more!
Houston Texans
We begin the AFC South preview by looking at one of the four teams with a full redesign for 2024, and theirs is arguably the most ambitious. In addition to the new primary home and road uniforms (as seen above), the team also added an all-red alternate uniform, plus an additional fourth uniform (a 2024 version of Color Rush)!
The Texans have a new primary helmet and a new secondary logo, plus the team has the four new uniforms (and three helmets) mentioned above.

Fortunately, they’ll be wearing their primary uniforms for all but one. On October 6, 2024, the Texans will wear their alternate blue uniform in a Week 5 matchup with the Buffalo Bills. They will debut their all red alternate uniform in Week 10, in a Sunday Night Football contest against the Detroit Lions (on November 10th). Those are the only two announced alternate uniform dates for 2024.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have no announced uniform changes for 2024. Their primary uniforms remain white helmet, blue jersey and white pants at home, and white helmet, white jersey and white pants on the road.
Last season, the Colts introduced a new alternate uniform, which they dubbed “Indiana Nights.” That uniform featured a BFBS helmet, and a new jersey and pants in heathered royal blue.
Fortunately, the team only wore it one time last season. Unfortunately, it’s not a one-and-done, and the Indiana Nights uniform will return this year, on November 24 (Week 16), in a non-primetime game against the Detroit Lions.
And in a move befitting a low-budget NCAA team, the Colts will be holding a “Winter White Out” (indoors, inside cozy Lucas Oil Stadium) against the Tennessee Titans, on December 22 (Week 16).

Hopefully the snow that day won’t camouflage the Colts uniforms, which will, of course, be head-to-toe white.
The Minnesota Vikings — who themselves have unveiled a new all-white uniform this season — have been mock-feuding with the Colts over the recent mono-white uniform trend.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are another team with a big uniform happenings for the 2024 season. The team’s biggest move was the introduction of their first ever throwback uniform.
The throwback is based on the team’s original 1995 uniforms, although it’s actually closer to what they wore in 1998. This throwback is part of the team’s 30th year celebration, which they’ll be observing this year.
Not only do the Jaguars have a new throwback uniform, the team has also joined the NFL’s new alternate white helmet trend, introducing their own alternate white bucket.
Because it’s an alternate helmet, the team is prohibited from pairing it with either their teal or white primary jerseys, so instead, the team plans to pair it with their third (black) jersey.
The team has not announced with what pants they’ll pair the white helmet/black jersey (hopefully it will be white pants).
As mentioned above, the Jaguars are celebrating their 30th season this year, and as such, have also introduced a new 30th Season logo.

If you click on the link above, you’ll see the team also created logos for the team’s 10th season in 2004, for the 20th season and in 2014, and for the 25th season in 2019 — all three of those were worn as jersey patches. It’s expected the team will do the same with the new 30th Season logo, but so far it has not appeared on the team’s jerseys in the preseason, so that’s something to be on the look out for as the regular season begins.
Jacksonville will wear their throwback uniform once, and the new white helmet once. On October 6th (Week 5), the Jaguars will debut the throwback against the Indianapolis Colts (at home, in a non-prime time game, unfortunately). And in Week 10 (November 10th), Jax will debut their new white helmets, against the Minnesota Vikings.
Earlier this year, the Jaguars themselves produced a complete uniform history, which is pretty cool.
The Jaguars continue their long-term relationship with the City of London, where the team have played overseas games for several seasons. This year, the team will play twice across the pond, against the Bears in Week 6 (October 13th) and against the Patriots in Week 7 (October 20th). That may expand to three London games by 2027, as the team’s stadium will by then be undergoing wholesale renovations.
During the off-season, the Jaguars Josh Allen (no relation to the Buffalo Bills QB) sought to differentiate himself from Buffalo’s Allen, and so has changed his name to Josh Hines-Allen.
Tennessee Titans
While the Titans primary home jersey is navy blue, the Titans did something interesting during the preseason, wearing their alternate light blue jerseys not once, but twice: against the 49ers they wore white pants with navy socks, and with blue pants/socks against the Seahawks. It’s rare for teams to wear alternates in preseason games, let alone twice. Could they be preparing to designate their light blue jersey as their primary?
Other than that switcheroo, the Titans have no announced uniform changes for the 2024 season.
Last season, the Titans made huge uniform news when they announced they would wear Houston Oilers throwback uniforms. They would wear those twice last year, once in Week 8 against the Falcons, and then again — in the ultimate troll job — against the Houston Texans in Week 15.
The team has not released a uniform schedule for 2024, but have said they will wear the light blue alternate for at least one game, and after wearing the Oilers throwbacks for two games in 2023, will only wear them one time this season. While not officially announced, it is expected the team will again wear them when they play the Texans in Nashville in Week 18 (January 5, 2025).
Really wanted the Jags to be able to wear their white helmets with the white tops/black pants to complete the full what if Fulham FC played in the NFL look….
I can’t find any pictures, but the Colts also finally updated the wordmarks in their endzones to the current ones.
> They would wear those twice last year, once in Week 8 against the Falcons, and then again — in the ultimate troll job — against the Houston Texans in Week 15.
…and then what happened?
I’m just playing–as a Texans fan who grew up Luvin’ Ya Blue, it wasn’t fun to see the Titans in the uniform that I loved for so long (and consider an absolutely perfect football uniform). However, it was pretty great to see the Titans get the whoopin’ they deserved for trolling current Texans/former Oilers fans.
Anyway, it’s a great uniform and it should be in the NFL, even if it’s currently being used by the “wrong” team.
+1 to all this.
And an extra “fie” to the “we own that color” nonsense that Amy pulled to keep the Texans from using more columbia blue in the Texans color rush uniform this year.
Where was this vitriol in 2002? In 2012?
No one cared for darn near 20 years …then all of a sudden, because of a few ‘liked’ social media posts, the Texans branding (which I considered modern classic) wasn’t up to snuff anymore and now the Adams family are somehow bad actors for retaining and protecting their property and exercising their rights to the designs (something Paul Taglibue helped them retain).
“…nonsense that Amy pulled to keep the Texans from using more columbia blue…”
Don’t you mean H-Town Blue?
; )
yes, Titans wearing Oilers throwbacks is brutal, but cant they at least throw the Tennessee patch on it so theyre at least “Tennessee Oilers” throwbacks? (yes, I know the Blue jerseys only ever made 3 appearances for the Tennessee Oilers, but still)
The colts are having a winter whiteout game? I mean, they’re going to wear their roadies at home. Whooptie doo. Calm down Colts. You ain’t special.
Hahaha, this is exactly what I was thinking! So every Colts road game is technically a “Winter Whiteout”?
Winter White Out … with gray facemasks.
Oof.
As soon as the salt trucks and plows come out, there is plenty of gray in a winter whiteout.
I can’t get too worked up about the lateral move that is the new Texans’ set, but that pants stripe is gonna drive me up a wall. Like, why? There is no reason for it.
That Houston number font is a hate crime.
The Jaguars primary home and away uniforms look like they belong to two completely different teams.
Also interesting to gaze at their uniform history in wonder at how they’ve hit the highest highs and the lowest lows in uniforms in 30 short years.
I have really soured over the years on their current uniforms. When put next to each other they honestly look like opposing uniforms designed for a one-off game (like for a Pro Bowl or Senior bowl)…
Im starting to think they might be worse than the “two-tone helmet” design…
This is the worst looking division in the NFL. It’s pretty close between AFC South and NFC West, each of which have one really good looking team and 3 turds, but that new Texans set combined with the Titans dreadful unis really pull this division to the bottom.
Agreed, and what is frustrating is that they could be among the best.
Colts are timeless, and they messed it up with the BFBS Indiana Nights or whatever.
Texans had great original uniforms from the start; this new set is a huge step backward.
Titans could have kept the Oilers colors and look, abandoned it, and have been in the wilderness since.
Jags got it right originally, and have botched it at every turn. The current set is better than what it replaced, so progress I guess. But that was a low bar to clear.
I may be in the minority here in Uni-Watch land, but I’ve always thought, that unless your colors include gray, you should not wear GRAY FACEMASKS. I realize at one time all facemasks were gray, and then you slowly had colors added, with the Chargers being the first to wear colored facemasks in the NFL (1974 – yellow/gold), and then later the Chiefs wore white, Steelers wore black, etc. I think the Colts would look much better wearing white masks (some liked the royal blue masks).
And I know the Titans wear a type of silver/gray mask, but they, too, should have masks that reflect the team colors. Of course, their uniforms scream for a redo.
Jacksonville should stick with their throwbacks being worn for this season and be done.
I agree this is the worst looking division in the NFL. The only decent looking team is Indianopolis however they also messed up with the ugly alternate helmets and stupid looking number font they changed a few years ago.
Titans wearing Oilers duds continually against Houston is getting tired. They should wear them against Pittsburgh, The Browns or Bengals as they did back in the old AFCC days. Those were the matchup. Maybe cincy could break out the old timey BENGALS duds in that matchup.
