Mere days after releasing their orange “Ag Day” uniform for 2024, the Colorado State Rams have now unveiled the 2024 edition of their “State Pride” uniform. The team has been wearing versions of this uniform since 2017.
The new version of the State Pride unis were unveiled by… (drumroll) … hype video (which is actually quite good, relatively speaking):

Not only that, the team also released a bunch of high quality still photos AND a handy-dandy explainer of the uniform. Well played, Rams.
Let’s take a look at the updated uni, starting with the helmet.
The helmet is white with two royal stripes running from front to back. It contains asymmetrical logos, with the right side featuring the red/gold state flag logo and the left side reading “STATE” in royal letters outlined in gold. The facemask is royal. “970” appears on the front bumper (it is one of several area codes for the State of Colorado). The back of the helmet, which we’ll see in a shortly, features several stickers and has a rear bumper with a graphic of the Rocky Mountains.
The jersey is also white, with “STATE” in royal blue block letters above royal numbers, which are outlined in red. The conference patch, maker’s mark and state flag are all located above the STATE wordmark.
The sleeve caps are royal, in a Northwestern striping pattern. Bisecting the stripes are the “C/Sun” logo from the state flag.
The pants are also white, and feature a Colorado flag patch on the left hip. Royal Northwestern stripes run down the sides.
The team also provided some explainer graphics. The second one shows the rear of the uniform and the back of the helmet.
And yes, this is an all-white uniform. The team did not use the words “Icy White” nor use a snowflake graphic anywhere in their announcement. Of course, this is an update of the original State Pride uniform introduced in 2017, and that was also all-white.
The uniform hasn’t changed much since then. It debuted on November 11, 2017, and was worn against Boise State. That uniform had thicker stripes on the sleeves, and the state flag logo on both sides of the helmet. “COLORADO STATE” in smaller royal blue letters was on the chest.
Additional photos here and here.
Additional wearings were on November 2, 2019, which featured the NCAA’s 150th Anniversary logo. In 2023, the team wore the unis in an early season snowfall on October 28, 2023, when the team played Air Force.
The newly updated State Pride uniforms will be worn earlier still in 2024, when the team breaks them in on September 21st against UTEP.
I’ve loved these uniforms since they were first worn in 2017, and the tweaks are fine — I actually prefer the earlier version with “COLORADO STATE” wordmark in smaller letters vs. the larger “STATE” on the new unis. I’d also prefer the helmet had the symmetrical state flag logo. The Northwestern stripes on the sleeve caps and pants are a nice upgrade, although it would have been awesome if they’d adjusted the helmet stripe to match. But even with those minor complaints, I can’t wait to see these on the field, and hopefully, on the good side of the 5 & 1!
Your thoughts?
Sigh
“Collegiate Connect”
SMU Icy Whites called and want their uniforms back.
I tire of the use of the Colorado state flag as the inspiration for a uniform… but that is a great right-side of a helmet!
It’s a good looking uniform, and it is obvious that it is Colorado State since the Colorado flag is pretty well known. But it of course looks nothing like the actual Colorado State uniform.
Wondering if CSU ever tried mashing up the ram horns with the flag C. There is probably a decent design to be made there.
I usually dislike when decals are different from side to side but I actually like this and think the soft colors work well.
That’s a sharp kit.
I think this is one of the better all-white unis although I think the area code thing is played out. Area codes don’t matter any more. And now it has me wondering if any team has used a ZIP code before. Also, I counted 7 uses of the C logo on this getup.
If I look at these BFBS/WFWS unis individually without considering any of the others, some are nice. This one is nice. But when I consider the entire uni-verse, I can’t help but feel that the well of creativity has run dry. I can’t imagine that any team wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to stand out, nor can I imagine that any of these teams are oblivious to the glut of B/W unis that is already out there. I have to say, BFBS tends to look worse because it’s rarely done with proper consideration to proportions of colors or adding trim/highlights to make an “all” black uni work well, whereas most teams in sports already have at least a white jersey, and white helps colors pop regardless or proportions, highlights, etc. nevertheless, I’d rather see “color rush” unis than more BFBS or WFWS.
Why can they not match helmet stripes with any other stripes on the uniform?! Are they trying to trigger us
Is any of this stuff news at this point? It certainly isn’t newsworthy,
They’re BYU uniforms with a handful of tweaks.
Having “STATE” on the chest is enough. Putting it on one side of the helmet is overkill and looks tacky.
I bet some people “who don’t get it” would have loved “STATE” down the side of the pants leg too
As someone who grew up in Colorado, I love the uniforms, even though I am not a CSU Rams fan.
I prefer the earlier version in which the shoulders match the flag, and don’t really think of CSU in terms of STATE, I do get what they’re trying to do in terms of representing the state of Colorado.
A lot of kvetching about city connect, but when alts means something, I am all for them!
When you look at what they have to work with design-wise, I think UA does a poor job for CSU. All of the basic elements are there, but it always seems like the finished products could be so much better.
The Colorado flag is a plum assignment for uniform design, but they’ve made some choices with this that I don’t agree with. The C logo is perfect for a football helmet, but they traded half of that away for “STATE” while overusing the logo too many times elsewhere.
They’re basing the design on the flag, and the stripes on the flag are specifically defined as equal in width, so I think it’s a mistake to go away from that for no reason. The hat, shirt, and pant stripes should be thick. I like Northwestern stripes just fine, but that choice doesn’t make sense for these.
Area code is a tired cliche, and I’m surprised designers can still get away with that. UA’s numbers, patches, and lettering always look cluttered and rinky-dink, and this is no exception. I’m okay with STATE on the jersey because it forced them to use larger letters.
I do like the mountain peaks on the back bumper, but they should have used the actual peaks that are above the campus/city, which are quite distinctive.
I am a Colorado native and a CSU alumn. I hate these uniforms. I like our state flag but I don’t like making merch and uniforms out of it. I like green and gold and Aggie orange. I hate when they wear these stupid things.
Greetings, I’m a new UW member but someone who has gotten it for nearly 50 years. Wanting to write a post about this uni set and Phil’s strong assessment of it finally convinced me to join up. So, down to biz:
I have lived in two states that neighbor Colorado — to the east (KS, where I grew up) and northeast (Neb., where I have lived for 17-plus years and live just about 150 miles from CSU) — and have long admired the Centennial State’s simple yet gorgeous flag when I have visited. So, with a couple exceptions, I am a fan of this kit. I hope the Rams players feel the same when they suit up in them on Sept. 21.
That said, the pair of definite overkill elements are the two — they probably have a definite name — flag-inspired patches/bracket covers (help me here, please) that flank the 970 bumper. They ruin a good helmet otherwise.
Since CSU has worn the C logo on both sides before, I think the blue STATE trimmed in gold on the left side is a nice touch.
I am with Timo on liking the mountainous back bumper but having it exemplify the peaks from nearby Rocky Mountain National Park that frame Fort Collins from the west would have made a nicer image.
I hope my first assessment as a UW member has been solid.
Welcome aboard!
Rock solid comment, sir!
I prefer the earlier version, but I do like the mountains on the back bumper. There are elements here that the Broncos should have been thinking about while rebranding (including the mountains bumper and a subtle use of the best state flag of the USA).
Considered in isolation, that’s a fine looking uniform. However. I dislike the whole “alt” concept, but I really, really hate alternates that are not in school (or team, in the case of pros) colors! You can see the problem in the 2017 photo: You have a team in white and royal blue, playing in front of a stadium full of fans in green and gold — you know, the actual school colors. Terrible idea, no matter how sharp the uni looks in its own right.
