Following earlier uniform releases of an all black and an all green “Generation O” uniform, this afternoon the Oregon Ducks have unveiled the next in their “Generation O” series of uniforms for the 2024 season.
Alternatively nicknamed the “Mighty Oregon” or “The Catch” uniform, this particular uniform is inspired by the jersey worn by legendary wide receiver Patrick Johnson when he made “The Catch.”
We start, as always, with the hype video.
Inspired by "The Catch."

The video actually does a very good job explaining the uniform (!) but we’ll go over it quickly below.
Lets start with the helmet.
The new helmet is gold (not yellow), and the Ducks call it “University Gold.” The classic “O” logo is found on both sides, and there is an Apple Green and white stripe going from front to back. The cage is also gold.
Moving down, the jerseys are white with a green contrasting collar, green stripes on the sleeve ends, and green block numbers outlined in gold.
At the base of the collar is a gold “O” logo, and the new B1G logo and makers mark appear above the numbers.
Each sleeve contains the cartoon duck logo.
Jersey backs feature NOB in green block letters, and the same green numbers outlined in gold appear.
The pants are University Gold, and stripeless. Hopefully they won’t be worn as bicycle shorts.
And here is the whole uniform.
If you clicked on the link for the “all green” uniforms, you’ll notice the shade of gold used as accents on those appears to be the same gold shade as on these uniforms, so hopefully the Ducks will mix and match (the gold helmet over green jersey and gold pants would be divine!).
The Ducks are supposed to unveil a total of five “Generation O” uniforms, and this is the third of those so far. I would expect a gold (or yellow) alternate jersey (and possibly pants) will also be unveiled, and as for the fifth? Who knows with Oregon.
But I love both the new all-green and this “The Catch” uniform, so I hope these make up a majority of their games.
Even if you’re not a Duck fan, there’s a lot to love about these uniforms. I think they’re my favorite by far of the three unveiled so far.
Your thoughts?
Love these! Potential combos (that we haven’t seen) that i’m most excited for: green-white-green, green-green-gold, gold-green-gold (as mentioned).
News is when Oregon announces they will not change or add uniforms for a period of at least 2 seasons
This is just more middle fingers to the world
Beaut!
Looks like a white version of the black uniforms got leaked so I’d assume that’s the mysterious 5th look.
This would be just fine as their standard road uniform (I know, a person can dream).
Gorgeous!!!
As a Husky fan and Nike foe it’s hard to admit, but these are a work of art. The Oregon colors have always been in perfect contrast, and the “new” O was an aesthetic gem from the start with a real story to tell, not Nike-fied hooey. And ya gotta love the [original] Donald on the sleeves, a playful nod to their humble past. It’s a shame they resort to their comic book costumes when they could look like this every weekend.
The only reason Nike got it right is because it was based on something they didn’t design. The biggest shock is that the swoosh is the least prominent component.
These!!!!! Just make the switch. We’re in the Big 10 now. Look at Michigan and Ohio… Always thought the extra ‘O’ on the back of our helmets in recent times has looked stupid. Way too much. Overcrowded. Either have the ‘O’ on the side like these, or just the wings. Ducks try too hard the last 5-10 years just to live up the what they’ve become known for. Simple is clean. Times are changing.
“Always thought the extra ‘O’ on the back of our helmets in recent times has looked stupid.”
Comrade Marshall has dubbed that the butthole. I think that’s pretty apt.
I will use that. I have been shouting this for years. Wish I had the direct connect to Uncle Phil!
I pray for anyone who thinks a butthole is that size.
this and the greens are beautiful.
Nice uniform. Actually uses their school colors. I noticed that they seemed to hide the big 18 patch on their right shoulder.
These are great college football uniforms.
I like that they used different logos on the helmet and sleeve caps, which work together to create an visually interesting but cohesive pair. This is something that I don’t hear much about, but when teams use the same logo on the sleeve cap and helmet, I think it looks more redundant than cohesive, and is a missed design opportunity.
The thick stripes on the helmet are great, and they help the yellow-gold helmet not look silly. Although matching thick stripes on the pants would look nice, the plain yellow pants (and yellow mask) distinguishes them from Green Bay and Edmonton, and makes more sense for a college team.
The colors look great. No doubt sandwiched in between weeks of Darth Vader cosplay, this is a uniform that says “We’re not afraid to be who we are. We’re the Oregon F*ckin’ Ducks. Take it or leave it.”
“they used different logos on the helmet and sleeve caps, which work together to create an visually interesting but cohesive pair. Perfectly said and I could not agree more.
I mean, yes. These should be the standard look. They won’t be, because Nike wants to sell a gazillion different jerseys, but they should be. Maybe someday in the future when we’ve reset the mean of “uniform” back to what it originally meant.
That is a Big Ten look
Can’t stand that they let the player modeling this to have a messy t-shirt hanging out.
Put that same helmet stripe on the pants and you have a top-3 uniform in college football. Even without the stripe, these are a winner!
I agree 100% and was just going to say the same thing. I’m not a fan of the trend of stripe-less pants that seems to be taking over.
Packers ditch their look for silly white helmets, so the Ducks waste no time moving in to look like the Packers.
My head is melting these days.
I’m so glad to see the uniforms Oregon has been releasing. These combos should create some terrific visuals when facing B1G opponents this season. The same can pretty much be said for USC, UCLA, and Washington. All four schools bring interesting palettes to the conference, as opposed to Nebraska, Rutgers, and (to a lesser extent, Maryland) which all are red, white, and black uni schools.
“they used different logos on the helmet and sleeve caps, which work together to create an visually interesting but cohesive pair. Whoa! An Oregon uni that isn’t hideous!!! Better check the water supply.
My thoughts: now that’s a f***ing uniform! That’s Oregon! I didn’t think they had it in them. Generation O are the best uniforms in the Big Business Eighteen. (Michigan gets points off for mono blue)
I could live with the lack of sleeve striping, given the retro duck logo, but the pants need to match the striping of the jersey. It just looks out of balance this way.
*I meant match the striping of the helmet.
These are tremendous – 11/10
Stripes on the pants would make these unis even more fire
My biggest kudos go to the introductory video. Long shots with clear explanations about key components of the uniform. Every school should take notes. This is how you introduce a uniform.
A beautiful classic uniform finally. Wouldn’t hurt to add green/white stripe to pants. Great number font as well.
Dammit, Nike – so you CAN do it.
You found Oregon’s look. Wanna go full mix & match with green, gold and white? Cool. Walk away, stop tinkering. (Please?)
Proof that Nike can get it right. VERY right…
These uniforms are two (helmet-matching) green/white/green triple pant stripes away from being an absolutely flawless football uniform.
Color-Scheme: As Paul would say, Green and Gold (yellow) is the perfect fall color scheme for the preeminent fall sport in the USA.
Number Font: You just can’t beat a solid, outlined Block number font.
Sleeve Logo AND TV Numbers: Shoulder numbers and a secondary logo that doesn’t repeat what is already on the helmet (Looking at you Texans). All without feeling forced or “crowded”. Chef’s kiss.
Sorry, replied to the wrong comment.
O̶r̶e̶g̶o̶n̶ D̶u̶c̶k̶s̶ Nike’s Pet Project Release New White/Gold Generation O Uniform. There, fixed it for you.
Give me the Edmonton Elks threads…
Why do they need do many uniforms? The standard home & road doesn’t cut the mustard?
