Green Bay Packers Tease White Helmet on Twitter

It’s getting closer.

As Paul first reported back in April, and as was recently confirmed via Madden 25, the Packers will have a white helmet this season. The team itself hasn’t made it official yet, but it’s probably going to be happening very soon.

On Twitter last evening, the team teased the white helmet with a couple photos — one of which shows their “Color Rush” uniform from the neck down, and a second photo of Jordan Love in the same uniform but in shadow.

If we expand that photo on the left, we can see the base of a white shell and facemask.

The team also posted a short video with the phrase “A Whiteout is Coming.” Ya know, in case the tweet wasn’t subtle enough.

The mockup at the top of this post shows a white helmet with a green/gold/green stripe, with both a green and white mask option. We now know they’ll be using the white cage. Other mockups have shown a similar look.

One would expect their helmet to look like this (although with a white facemask), but the Madden 25 screenshots show the helmet with just two green stripes (or a green/white/green stripe, if you prefer), without the gold stripe bisecting the green. So, until the team officially unveils the white hat, we still aren’t sure of the striping pattern.

But the wait will likely soon be over.

What an awful gimmick. This doesn’t contribute anything to the visuals of the team. The matching yellow helmet and pants, paired with either the green or white jersey, are iconic. The Packers rolling out various throwbacks is one thing, given their long history as one of the first NFL franchises. But this WFWS is garbage for such a storied franchise with an iconic look. I’d compare this to if the Yankees suddenly wore a gray hat to go mono gray on the road.

Yellow striping on pants and sleeves but NO yellow stripe on the helmet would be a huge mistake. Hoping madden had it wrong

If the helmet stripes don’t match the jersey and pants stripes, this whole set will end up looking like trash.

Yep. Got an email from them with a link to buy them from the Packers Pro Shop.

WFWS is just as bad as BFBS. NFL sinking to the NBA’s level. Now there are two leagues where I have no idea which teams are playing.

I mildly disagree with you on this. I’m seeing the white-helmet thing as a response to climate change. Wearing a white helmet (which reflects heat) is much better than wearing a dark helmet (which absorbs heat).

The people who play lacrosse figured this out years ago (albeit with headgear which had vents in the crown).

You now see a lot of light-colored helmets everywhere.

And some Luddites say that climate change isn’t a thing. Hah.

Yep, gotta watch the heat.. in late fall…. in Wisconsin… and in that dome… in Minnesota.
There is actually some *heated* debate on the topic of dark vs light colors in the heat, and which actually performs better. i.e. the Tuaregs desert tribe members have long worn loose fitting black clothing to keep cool. Of all the teams to recently introduce a white helmet, the Jags are the only one where this heat factor would really makes sense. Gotta keep in mind the advancements made in breathability and cooling for present day NFL uniforms and helmets. I think for the white helmet trend, it’s just a design fad. As only a couple years ago the Titans and Cardinals wear being made fun of for their white “bobblehead” helmet looks.

while I don’t necessarily disagree with you that this may be cooler in the Heat/High UV. I don’t think the heat was much of a consideration in implementing a white helmet for a late fall game in Wisconsin. Or in a dome in Minnesota. The jaguars are the only white helmet trend team where that really makes a lot of sense. I feel like 5 minutes ago everyone was making fun of white helmet teams and the “bobblehead” look. Now its the hip thing.

Like I always say – one-offs for these alts are OK by me. Good to mix it up now and then. Just don’t wear them multiple times in one year and play it out. If the design is good, you can’t go wrong for a game.

It’s not bad in the abstract but really doesn’t work without the yellow. It makes me wonder if the alt is going to be updated to the 56-58 white and green only set.

Some of yall will really look me dead in the eye and say the NY Giants godawful throwback is “good, actually” just because it’s as old as your great grandfather. But something new? Terrible, according to 90% of you lol. Does hating everything get tiring?
