The North Dakota Fighting Hawks, who compete as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) in the NCAA Division I’s Football Championship Subdivision, have unveiled a new green jersey and pants for the 2024 season.
The jersey is shown with a green helmet and pants — the helmet is not new.

The new jersey and pants are both plain (or, in the more common vernacular, “clean”), with no stripes. The jersey reads “NORTH DAKOTA” in white lettering with a black outline. Numbers are also white with a black outline. Jerseys are shown NNOB.
The sleeve caps contain the NoDak Fighting Hawks logo.

Numbers are rendered in what appears to be a bespoke font and are absolutely HUGE (Jimmer Vilk will be happy).

The green jersey which is being replaced was rather busy in comparison. That jersey featured the same wordmark, but sleeve caps were white, with black pointed stripes over the shoulders. Numbers were rounded with a double outline of green and black. Sleeve ends had thin black stripes. The collar had a white/black stripe around it. Here’s a look at the old and new jerseys:

If you look closely at the above photo on the left, you’ll also see the jersey had some white triangular shape extending from mid-jersey to the waist. That was meant to jibe with the green pants the team previously wore, which had a 90’s feel to them. The new uniform eliminates all those extra doo-dads.
I wasn’t a fan of the old uniform, so I can say the new look is an improvement. However, the team has gone from a very busy jersey to a very minimalist one. I am fine with it being stripeless, but it could use TV numbers or perhaps a contrasting collar or sleeve ends. I am very grateful the team removed that white “wedge” look, but the pants are now too plain. Those would have looked great with a white or white/black/white stripe pattern.
Overall an improvement, but they could have been better with just a couple small additions.
Your thoughts?
Looks fine in a studio, but they’re going to blend right in with the turf. And I’m still upset about that “Fighting Hawks” name.
No sleeves. No stripes. No socks. Biker shorts. Man, football uniforms are a disaster these days.
Proofreading: you have “Hawk” instead of “Hawks” at the beginning.
Thanks, fixed!
For some reason these new uniforms feel to me like it could have been the Jets practice jerseys for their outgoing uni set. It just feels way too plain to be a game uniform.
They could have at least found a jersey that fits for the photo-shoot….
“Nurth Daku”
Hahaha! Yeah, someone could have at least given that jersey a slight tug before the photoshoot.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Another minimalist mono-uni set!

So sick of matte helmets. Looks so bland/boring.
