It’s Time for the Annual MLB Season Preview!

Posted in:

Good morning! It’s one of my favorite days of the year — the day when I publish the Uni Watch MLB Season Preview, now in its 25th annual edition. As usual, it’s stuffed to the gills with all the news you need to know about this year’s new uniforms, logos, commemorative patches, sleeve ads (ewww), and throwbacks, plus stadium updates, deep-cut player-specific info, and a lot more. I can say with some confidence that it’s the most comprehensive guide of its type that you’re going to find!

You can read the introduction to the MLB Preview here. But in order to access the team-by-team rundown, you’ll need to become a paying subscriber to my Substack (this will also give you full access to my Substack/Bulletin archives), which I hope you’ll consider doing. Thanks!

Since there seems to be a bit confusion (understandably), please note that being a Uni Watch Plus subscriber does not give you access to my Substack content. UW+ gets you an ad-free experience here on the blog, access to the blog’s discussion forum, a discount on our Teespring merch, and more. But the Substack content is a separate subscription. I realize it can be confusing — thanks for your support!

Taste Test Reminder

In case you missed it yesterday, I’m taste-testing Hormel’s hardcourt-smoked bacon against two other varieties this Sunday at Uni Watch HQ and am looking for three people to assist me — a fellow taste-tester, a bacon chef, and a photographer/videographer. If you’re interested in participating, you must send an application email, explaining why I should pick you for the gig, today. Full details here.

I should mention here that the first day of responses was v-e-r-y slow. Is it somehow possible that spending one’s Sunday afternoon eating bacon with me at Uni Watch HQ might not be the super-fun idea that I envision it to be? Or are people just taking time to fine-tune their application letters? Hmmmm. Either way, let’s hear from more of you today!

Can of the Day

Now that’s a nice piece of design, wouldn’t you say? Additional pics and info here.

My personal favorite is the Wright “Applewood Smoked Bacon”. Makes the whole house smell good!

If you want to hop on the train up to Milford, CT, I’d be more than happy to cook the bacon in my own kitchen. Haha. I just can’t swing the drive down to Brooklyn this weekend.

For the record, hanging out with you eating bacon would be a phenomenal day. If I could make the trip from Texas to Brooklyn, I’d have put in my application instantly. Alas, I cannot. Hope you get some awesome bacon cooking assistants though.

My qualifications include being able to eat, and that’s about where it ends. I can’t get the day off, nor am I able to cook bacon. Sorry, Paul.

Just like Sean above, I can’t make the trip from Texas either, but it sounds like a great day. Any day sitting around eating bacon is a great day!

I wish I was free this weekend to taste test, but Thursday is my 10th wedding anniversary and we’re taking a small trip to celebrate.

Not too crazy about the Braves City Connect uniforms, but they nailed a critical detail. The white panels of the cap are spinnaker-shaped, like the ’70s Padres hats.
