Guess the Game from the Scoreboard for August 16, 2022

Guess The Game…

…From The Scoreboard

Today’s scoreboard comes from David Firestone.

The premise of the game (GTGFTS) is simple: I’ll post a scoreboard and you guys simply identify the game depicted. In the past, I don’t know if I’ve ever completely stumped you (some are easier than others).

Here’s the Scoreboard. In the comments below, try to identify the game (date & location, as well as final score). If anything noteworthy occurred during the game, please add that in (and if you were AT the game, well bonus points for you!):

Please continue sending these in! You’re welcome to send me any scoreboard photos (with answers please), and I’ll keep running them.

    This game was between the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox on Monday September 16th, 2013. Liam Hendriks (the future closer for the White Sox) started this game for the Twins.

    9/16/13. MIN @ CHW. From Retrosheet, the scoreboard itself is discussing:

    Jordan Danks’ fly ball struck the top of the wall, bounced up and back onto the field; it was ruled in play and Danks reached 2B; crew chief Ted Barrett watched the replay and upheld the call;

    Fun fact: Current White Sox closer Liam Hendriks started this game for the Twins, and couldn’t get out of the first inning after allowing all seven runs.

    Cole de Vries on the mound led me to the game. He was only in Minnesota (and MLB) for two seasons so didn’t play the White Sox that often.
